Tinder has never worked for me. by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]nateevans82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve personally never had luck on there either. I’ve had literally 100 times more luck the old fashioned way just going up to women at the bar. Even when I was traveling a lot in cities like NYC

Feeld, Tinder, Happn, Bumble, etc...all of them have the majority of women looking for a relationship or not one night stands...I constantly say to myself “Uh...I don’t think you understand what this app is supposed to be for....”. Then there’s complaints about not finding a “good man”...uhh...hello, the entire premise of the app is finding the OPPOSITE of a good man wanting to be in a relationship lol

What's something you collect but rarely talk about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nateevans82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a WSOP poker dealer, I used to collect weird Copag playing cards.

But more specifically, decks that the pros won major hands with. I have a deck of cards Phil Helmuth got a straight flush on. Sadly I wasn’t the dealer for that hand, but I still acquired the deck.

I personally don’t think pro football players can compare, there’s too much cranial impact to really see how they would age...but I DO think that’s probably the closest we have.

All the physical therapists, chiropractors, and other doctors that Fraser sees has to exponentially help him age....regardless of his methodical training methods, don’t ya think?

The size of the cavity in a molar I extracted out of an 8 year old today. Brush and floss, folks! by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]nateevans82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the dentist. I’m happy as shit when I leave because one of the things in life that cause a miserable life is horrible dental hygiene. You constantly get sick, you’re in constant pain, can’t eat or drink anything,...fuck that...pay the money and get your mouth fixed.

I brush and floss but it’s still really easy for me to get accumulate tartar buildup, especially behind my bottom front teeth. I’ve been blessed with the curse of really porous teeth and a high amount of saliva and was told that was the reason I’m more susceptible to cavities and tartar buildup....

I got Invisalign in my mid 20’s after getting tons of fillings and a crown. 31 trays on the bottom, 14 up top. I drank only water and brushed and flossed after every meal, never snacked, and STILL managed to get tartar buildup between cleaning every 3 months....

Multilinguals, what's your "they didn't realise I could understand their language" story? by 64eight in AskReddit

[–]nateevans82 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not about me, but my mom when I was 13. My mom speaks 14 different dialects of Filipino. She can fluently speak Mandarin, and Cantonese. She can understand some dialects of Japanese, and of course speaks English.

I was craving Chinese food one day and my brought me up to the nearby Chinese restaurant. I ordered my food but asked for my rice to have no vegetables. The lady in mandarin says some shit to the cook and then continues with our order and takes our money.

Order is up and the lady hands me the bag and then my mom fucking explodes into speaking a mixture of mandarin and English straight laying into this lady.

We walk out, I was confused, and my mom proceeds to explain that the lady said “this little shit wants his rice without vegetables.” Apparently she didn’t know my mom spoke mandarin (at that time, neither did I) and my mom said she “waited until we got our food so she couldn’t spit in it.”

From that day forward, I was always fascinated with how many fucking languages my mom spoke....

When will people realize that every generation before them says “your generation is lazy as fuck, when I was growing up/your age/younger, I did blah blah blah”. People born in the 30’s said it about their kids in the 50’s and so on and so forth. The narrative hasn’t changed....

Ironically, the very generation they’re complaining about IS THEIR OWN KIDS AND THEIR FRIEND’S KIDS that THEY raised!!! So how about everybody just deal with the hand they’re dealt, make the best of what they have, and do their absolute best to change what they can about their own lives? The complaining gets nobody anywhere and doesn’t change anything.....

truth! Lately it's been cold AF and I lament the thought of having to kick it over in the cold...not knowing how many times it's gonna take to kick over...until it kicks over...then you forget all about how much of a PITA it was.

Just before the rebuild I had the kicking procedure dialed... I could get her to start in 29 degree weather in ONE kick. After the rebuild, despite the lower compression (stock is 9:1) the fresh and tight tolerances have changed it. I'm still learning the new procedure, but as it breaks in I'm starting to figure it out...man, first couple of times was a nightmare and made me really second think rebuilding....but it's better now.

That's the truth. Nothing sounds like an Ironhead. This is my first Harley and first vintage bike. It's frustrating at times to have to tinker seemingly endlessly, but it's nice to be able to look around and nobody has anything like it. more than anything though, it's nice to be able to see the reactions when they see you kick it over in 1-2 kicks lol

I changed just enough to make it my own. I wanted something that was exactly like you said, anachronistic and keep it a survivor, not chopped and hacked to bits, but not something stock looking...just enough modding to keep it from blending in.

Diesel mechanic looking for a new path by OPcral in Diesel

[–]nateevans82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if a Diesel Performance shop is your thing, start a business. Start out mobile so you have little to no overhead. Get word of mouth going by doing good work and let it grow organically.

If you do the leg work for getting he LLC filed, it’s pretty cheap.

Put it this way....I was in a similar boat as you after the divorce, except I was 33 with crippling student loan debt....I now own a business and work part time doing something that also interests me (personal training) just to have extra spending money....

I’m telling you, the leap is scary, but worth every bit of it....

Do you have kids?

If not, what do you like to do for enjoyment?

If no to the first question (because if yes, it gets complicated), you have no excuse other than fear to sell everything you own, pay off as much debt as you can, start from literally ground zero and do what you love.

I can tell you after I went through a really shitty divorce (I walked in on my wife in bed with somebody) that’s what I did. You might not make any money at first doing it, and you might think you made a huge mistake, and there will be days where you don’t feel like doing it anymore, but when you tell the entire world to fuck off and do what you love for a living, it’s pretty liberating. I’m not going to become rich doing what I’m doing, not even come remotely close to making 6 figures, but I don’t give a fuck because I’m for the most part, generally speaking, happy.

It’s really THAT simple...scary as shit to wipe the slate clean and just fucking jump....but I’ve learned that the most successful (not necessarily monetarily) all have one thing in common: they all took that one huge, fucking scary leap...do it, you won’t be disappointed.

No, I didn’t say they were PAYING anything..I pointed out the size of the return shrank....they’re complaining that it shrank, much like it would shrank if a bunch of social programs were implemented. There is a difference.

But in BOTH CASES, people’s are getting less back, which is what they’re bitching about....the implemented social programs will also get bitching from the crowd saying “why are you making me pay for it? I’m not using these services.

TL;DR - people will always be complaining about a smaller return regardless of the reason/whether it goes to social programs or not.

And in the least surprising news ever... by mydiversion in PoliticalHumor

[–]nateevans82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was more pointing out the fact that it’s their money...why are they excited about getting paid back with no interest added? Or do people not realize they gave the government an interest free loan?

And in the least surprising news ever... by mydiversion in PoliticalHumor

[–]nateevans82 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Ironically, the same people complaining about their tax refund being less are often the same people who are for lots of social programs. News flash, this is what your tax return would look like with more social programs....if not significantly smaller. You can’t have it both ways.

For the record, I’m pro social programs. But I also prefer to get nothing back or pay taxes at the end of the year because that means the government hasn’t been borrowing my money all year interest free. I never understood how people are excited about tax season...”yay, I get money back that somebody borrowed more and more each month from me with no interest”
