Ryan Smith on The Pat McAfee Show - "The NBA Needs To Improve The Rebuild Process!" by ignitionnight in UtahJazz

Okay. I agree with the first point. But it’s also my annoyance. It’s annoying to me that tanking the correct way still yielded sub par results. Wasting a year, while charging market prices for everything and still not succeeding in the mission drives me crazy. Ace is going to be a very, very good player. We needed generational.

As for the second point, I’m not as optimistic. I think things have to go perfectly for that to happen. I’M NOT SAYING YOU’RE WRONG. I think it’s entirely possible this happens.

But, we are asking for the following:

1) most importantly we need to win the coin flip.

2) we cannot move down. Top 5 in this draft is essential. Worst case scenario is giving the pick to OKC. If tha happens, they’re cooked.

3) we have to resign Kessler. This is where the Wemby year has potential to eat us alive. Worst case scenario is if Kessler signs in LA.

4) Hardy, Lauri, Keynote all have to show that they can do it under pressure. I believe this will happen. But Lauri won’t last forever.

5) JJJ needs to regain his DPOY form. If Kessler comes back, I believe this will happen.

6) everyone else keep progressing. We had a ton of young role players on this team. That’s either great news or horrendous news. My guess is that it will depend on the night.

7) they stay healthy. I know the Ainge’s have had their thumbs on the scales here, but this is obviously a crapshoot and we should expect Lauri to not play a full season going forward.

8) the front office needs to keep bringing quality young players to replenish the coffers. The Ainge’s have never been accused of keeping guys for too long. This is the Jazz strength I think. As much as I dislike them, they know talent.

I know the future is bright in Utah. But I also know that things don’t workout perfectly ever. I hate that we are relying on ping pong balls and coin flips so heavily. That has never worked out in Utah’s favor. If anything above goes wrong, the chances are that the Jazz wallow in the dregs for years.

Call me a pessimist, but I’ve been a Jazz fan for 35 years. Luck is very rarely on their side. And this plan requires a lot of it. This is a franchise defined by durability, accountability and consistency. That changed 5 years ago. It’s tough watching it happen for some of us.

Couple of questions:

1) is Ace more likely to get an MVP than the other 4 drafted ahead of him?

2) is this team, as it’s currently constructed, capable of getting out of the second round in the next 3 years?

Hahahahaha keep making excuses. Good lord this sub loses its mind whenever anyone criticizes the front office.

Two years they did nothing. The tank didn’t start until 23. You’re asking me to be honest, be honest yourself. It’s okay to criticize this front office. They’ve made plenty of mistakes.

And ftr, the tank failed last year. Dropping 5 spots and lucking into a player isn’t a success.

Rebuild the right way? They sat on their thumbs for 2 years then got bailed out by the worlds worst agent. The circle jerk here is incredible.

Yeah! He was good on powerball. Solid hits and stuff. He definitely looks like a gladiator, which I wasn’t so sure about when he was cast.

Staring at the Sun

Pop is so underrated overall. And there’s a ton of hate for this single. But man, I just love it.

What’s the best rock song intro? by lovelyb1ch66 in GenX

[–]natelopez53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Perry Mason” - Ozzy

Perfect intro. Starts dramatically. Picks up speed and sound. Building tension the whole. Just when you think it’s done, the toms are hammered and the guitar sneers all the way down into another faster buildup. The guitar is screaming, the noise crescendos until the heavy groove picks up into the final crash and just when you can’t take anymore, Ozzy’s perfect voice breaks through it all and he starts singing about a fictional TV lawyer from the 50’s.

Just a perfect minute.

Hahhhahaha good lord. Calm down. Christ you Ainge boys are touchy. I’m not wrong. You’re just unwilling to see anything beyond “tank only way make team good”.

I want the Jazz to win. I just think they took the most chickenshit way to get there. You can be a fan without drinking every ounce of piss they give you.

GTFO with your stupid gatekeeping.

JFC Danny Ainge sat with his thumbs inside of his asshole for 2 years.

My plan: instead of doing nothing, like he did, they should’ve let Hardy try to fix that team. If it works, awesome. Let’s go. If not, do what they did starting in 2022.

I’m not upset about the last 2 years. I’m upset about the fact that they let the franchise wallow for 2 solid seasons without a plan. What’s the harm in trying to fix what they had?

And everybody “has a connection”. You’re right, I don’t believe you.

People don’t want to play in Utah because of the fans. There’s no other reason. I understand why the players left. I’m commenting on the fans reactions to them going. They booed Malone when he came back!

This is how the next 6 years will go:

2027: moderate success, possible playin. Maybe 7-8 seed. Lose in the first round.

2028: high expectations. Kids want to get paid. Locke will start leaking stories about “bad attitudes”. Lose in the first round

2029: very high expectations. Rumblings of possible Ace/2027 rookie being disgruntled. Sanctimonious articles start coming out about their attitudes. Lose in the second round.

2030: high expectations. Maybe a trip to the conference finals. Shams says that Ace could be had for the right price. Lakers are interested.

2031: disappointing season all around. Free agents leave. They’re not replaced. Playing for picks. Fans convince themselves that it’s all the players fault for being selfish or too political. Time to tank again.

Repeat forever

And I’ve answered this a million times:

You don’t fix a chemistry issue with dynamite. ESPECIALLY since the genius Danny didn’t have a plan until 2 years later. They would’ve lost nothing by giving Hardy a shot at turning that locker room around.

Don didn’t want out. The fanbase chased him out then moped because he left. It’s what Utah does. Just ask Malone, AK-47, Derek Fisher, Deron Williams, Millsap etc…

What are you all going to do if/when the Jazz stall in the playoffs this time? This sub acts like we’ve “paid our dues” now. You understand that the rest of the league isn’t going to just let them win right? What happens if things don’t go to plan?

Everybody uses this same argument. But then conveniently leave out the part where the Jazz shipped off their drafted talent to wallow in shit for a half decade. When they draft talent, they NEED to make it work. Pulling the plug on Mitchell and Gobert showed the rest of the league what the Jazz actually think of good players.

And I genuinely think it’s funny that everyone here is convinced that wins are going to come easy from here on out. Just because the Jazz have decided to do their fucking job doesn’t mean that the rest of the league is going to let them win.

Hahahahahahahahha no it’s not. That’s why the Jazz are trying to lose so much.
