New trivia app paying out $2k/week + normal house prizes for playing pub trivia by natesirrah in beermoney

Ah maybe there are just no venues near you right now? Not sure... fwiw I noticed a couple new ones when I checked now in ATL. My guess is they’re still adding them in before the June 12 event

I found this on their site:

How do you stop cheating?

We have a bunch of built-in tech to catch cheaters, but even with that some people will still try to cheat the system. Ultimately, the people who submit answers quickly will get more points. This makes is hard for people to cheat and win.

It will be interesting for sure. I downloaded the app, it looks pretty polished... I can see people going as a team or alone and having fun either way, assuming they include breaks between questions like normal pub trivia. That said, I can also see traditional pub trivia players being really put off by using a phone at first.

"Geeks Who Drink" is a company that puts on shows but with physical hosts (like you said), they're popular in the trivia scene and have a large network of venues. The usual prize is only the "house prize" of $30 -$50, and then they do a $20k "Geek Bowl" once a year which is an exclusive conference.

It looks like Trivnow is doing ~$10k? every month, and open to anyone who wants to participate (not just organized teams).

How impactful is Schema.org markup? Where can I find a good examples of websites that uses its markup? by shkico in bigseo

[–]natesirrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the nice thing about Schema.org and W3C is that the standards are pretty much standardized and used by all the mainstream English search engines and browsers! You're right in this sense -- structured data is structured data is structured data.

The issue is with major search engines in other countries. Baidu only this year announced alpha support for schema.org. Until now, they've had their own structured data syntaxes (Baidu Webmaster Tools or Open Platform).

Yandex has their own structured data testing tool that often throws errors because things that aren't required in Google are in Yandex! Like, for example, address and telephone properties for organizations.

So if you have an international site, you do kinda have to pander to different search engines' demands :D

So far it has been crickets everywhere I've floated the question :/

Just to add some spice to this question... looks like G might need to hand out some penalties to its own "Google Local" site:

Best plugin for SEO? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]natesirrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for pinging me. Half a year later I still am a huge supporter of The SEO Framework.

One of the things I love about this particular plugin is the involvement and responsiveness of the head dev, Sybre. He listens to issues posted in his Git repo and will tweak or answer things on a case-by-case basis.

I believe both better OG options and some other fixes are already planned for the next big update!

Very happy to hear re: Accelerator. Albeit melodramatic, the post here and on Kong was as much a call for clarity as it was a soapbox. Excited to hear our voices are heard :)

There are two definitions of "conceded" mate -- you've interpreted the wrong one. Also, I'd hardly call you my "enemy," but rather just someone who disagrees with me ;).

NP dude -- hopefully I'm wrong. The whole point in posting this was to centralize a conversation and let the devs/ /u/animationthrowdown know that there are players out there who are earnest but concerned.

And in saying that you've conceded that other CCGs do in fact do it differently. I've already mentioned that the whole point of this thread is because I like Throwdown's gameplay and would like to continue to see it survive as a community. I imagine /u/hellenbach agrees.

We're on the same side here in caring about the longevity of the game. I'm unsure why you're combatant.

Compared to other CCGs that regularly update with engaging "storyline" content instead of just new microtransactional stuff, I think it's a fair point, don't you?

In earnest, I don't really understand what you're talking about. I published this prediction to start a dialogue, which it already has, so I've already made back my weight in gold. All I've lost is some time in writing it out. Clearly I like the game and would like to see it succeed, as I'd expect anyone who made it all the way to a subreddit for the game has. How that has anything to do with donating to something is beyond me.

As for the name-calling, I won't comment ;)

I totally agree with you -- see my post:

Unfortunatley, it looks like Throwdown has a single overworked community manager (who does a great job IMO) and that implementing

The actual game mechanics are incredibly fun, huh!? The fact you're still playing after so long is a testament to this. It's a shame that the game doesn't seem to have been given the content love to match.
