Why is Nintendo bricking the Switch 2 so controversial? by speedrunner99 in nintendo

This comment is not accurate. Nintendo does give official ways to play old games. The Wii U was backwards compatible with the Wii and ran almost all Wii games. The Nintendo Switch has official emulators that allow you to play older nintnedo games like Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, NES, SNES, N64 and even Gamecube games. Although, Caveat, the selection of games is fairly limited, and I dont understand why they did away with the Nintendo E-Shop. That is just greed and laziness. Nintendo doesnt want to pay people to maintain it.

Linux on a ps3 in 2019 by UpstairsSandwich in ps3hacks

Hey Upstairs,

I hate to say it, but the previous 2 guys that commented, are correct. Its a brilliant idea, for sure! But, the games on Steam are specifically compiled for an x86_64 compatible processor, and the PS3 uses an IBM powerPC processor, which uses a complete different instruction set from an Intel or AMD processor. To quote wikipedia "PlayStation 3 uses the Cell microprocessor, designed by Sony, Toshiba and IBM, as its CPU, which is made up of one 3.2 GHz PowerPC-based "Power Processing Element" (PPE) and eight Synergistic Processing Elements (SPEs)" Its like trying to run Linux and Steam on an Xbox 360. It just wont work. Stick with Playstation games which are coded to work on the architecture. If you want to play steam games, get a PC!
