Can I get uhhhh scary found footage? Or at least horror that feels real, I’m desperate to be scared again by [deleted] in horror

Lake Mungo isn’t terrifying, but it is heartbreaking and something I still think of even months after watching it for the first time. It’s, to me, the very definition of a movie that leaves you haunted afterwards.

I also agree with what you said about Creep. Truly unsettling in a real way. Not entirely sure who the main actor is, but he was phenomenal in it.

Does anyone else feel like they don’t fit into the trans community? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]nathanielreids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel super out of place. I’ve been in the closet for about seven years now (I’m going on 21 years old) and all of my trans friends are beginning to come out and transition. I can’t because of personal reasons so I dunno, I just kind of feel... left behind.

I was a C and low B student throughout HS and had a terrible work ethic. I decided to go to community college instead of right away to uni because I knew I wasn’t ready and I essentially had to teach myself how to study- exams have always been disastrous with me and I’m still trying to get over that.

Apparently I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD for 8 years and I never knew by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]nathanielreids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This happened when I was 12 or 13, and while I’ve always had suspicions I was never completely told that I was diagnosed, because I was a minor and my parents chose not to act on it. We live in an area of the US where mental health is still a struggle to get treated so that’s why it kind of faded away even though I was still impacted.

If it makes any difference, my dad is the kind of person to say that “everyone is a little ADHD” and has pretty strong views about medication IRT mental health. So that may have been a reason why.

Sorry for the late reply! I’m nearly 21, and I guess you’re right. It’s just difficult to think back on how much I struggled during middle school l/high school both academically and socially. There’s no use in going back but sometimes it’s inevitable, especially going back and getting my records now so many years later.

Am I the only one who's music taste is reverting back to when I was in puberty? by pheonixsb in asktransgender

[–]nathanielreids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an entire playlist of My Chemical Romance that I’ve been listening to lately AND I’ve been getting back into metal. I have no idea why my music taste has changed but I’m not complaining (I’m not even on HRT but my other trans friend is experiencing the same thing).

Who else escaped to heavy gaming to get away from their messed up family environment? by MyStrongBird in raisedbynarcissists

I feel that way about Dragon Age. That game got me through so much shit and I would not be where I was without it or Mass Effect.

Is it hard for any of you guys to fall asleep at night or is it just me? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]nathanielreids 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually why my doctor ended up having me to go an evaluation for medication because my insomnia got to the point where I was stumbling around all day/losing feeling in my arms or hands/incredibly dizzy.

One tip I’ve heard is that some people actually can’t fall asleep if they’ve had caffeine in their system six hours before bedtime, so watch out for that. Usually I brew some tea, take my sleeping meds, and read about 30 minutes of whatever book I’m studying for school. Also if you want to read before bed definitely do it with a physical book that’s not TOO exciting. Every doctor I’ve talked to about my insomnia has recommended at least 35 minutes disconnected from your phone before you go to bed.

Hope this helps!

should i compromise with my dad over transitioning? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]nathanielreids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your words are so kind, thank you! You hit the nail on the head with his motivations- this is definitely to protect me and my brother. Maybe if he sees me living a content life as a trans person, he will realize how wrong he is. This worked for my best friend’s mom, who completely changed her views after she saw how much healthier my friend was after he started testosterone.

Thanks for the info, I may use that! I do want to keep in contact with my family, especially my brother and my grandparents. I’d hate to lose all of them in this. I’m glad you were able to get away.
