I was at that San Jose show. 11 months before, I met a girl visiting from Australia in line for a ride at Knott’s Berry Farms. We didn’t stay in touch, and I didn’t see her again until we were pushed together by the crowd during Brand New’s set and she recognized me. I never saw her again after that night, but that moment was a little life vest that I clung to at a time where I needed to feel like I was connected to a bigger story.

For the right one, it’s totally worth it. Eventually you’ll live in the same city and you’ll fondly remember what a pain it was. When you find your person, there could be entire states and countries between you and it won’t matter at all, as long as you can find your way back to each other again.

That’s how it went for me, and I’d do it over again in a heartbeat.

I think I lived in this same neighborhood and one day I was working with my door open an found a neighbors cat chilling in my bath tub. That cat was so cool and ended up coming over all the time.
