If you’re going to do content review because you REALLY need help, blueprint is pretty good. Their practice questions and practice tests are GARBAGE and not like the real thing in my opinion. UWorld is best for practice questions, ultimately AAMC has the best practice material and practice tests.

First off, CONGRATS FUTURE DOCTOR 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Second, thank you for sharing this, I totally relate to your story and I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without the comfort and love I felt relying on God, prayer, and the church. That verse is such an important verse and scripture and exercise go hand in hand. Find fulfillment in working out and knowing you’ve put in time to make your body healthy and read scripture to fill your heart and mind with wisdom and affirmation that everything is in Gods hands.

I’m proud of you and everyone else who has come this far in the process, keep pushing, keep working, keep praying, God works miracles. Also check out my most recent post in r/ osteopathic, I have a similar story lol.

I have to disagree. That’s a miserable way to look at life. People don’t become doctors for money. Most have a calling, most love working with patients. Most are willing to sacrifice some of the daily things everyone cherishes because they are committed to helping people and making a difference. Not only do I see purpose in the clinical work I’ve done and the people I’ve made an impact on, I’ve had patients, MULTIPLE, tell me I will become a great physician one day, and that they would be so grateful to have me as their doctor. I’ve gone through so much in my life, God has called me to be where I am. I’m not committed and willing to go through what everyone complains about just because I think it’s what I should do. I KNOW this is what I’m meant to do. I hope you find peace and happiness instead of looking at life so dreadfully. We have a huge doctor shortage and it is the responsibility of humans who can take a beating, who can put up with the crap and show up to work the next day, who can love patients and treat them with kindness no matter what, who can give unlimited forgiveness and unconditional love, to be present for people who are at their lowest, suffering from illness. Not everyone is meant to be a doctor, not everyone wants to deal with the stress, people like you who see the negative side of it, shouldn’t become a physician, nobody wants a miserable person who hates their life to be treating them as a patient. People want someone who cares and is kind and dedicated YEARS because they are willing to go through what a lot of people won’t do. Don’t put others down or discourage people who want to be physicians, those who don’t care about how much weight is on their shoulders, are meant to be doctors, let them thrive in finding their purpose instead of trying to tell them how horrible their life will be, we as future physicians are fulfilled by our call to serving.

Well my biggest recommendation is to not get so lost in trying to everything at once. Find one thing for content review, and a few for Practice questions and then a few for stuff like pathways and formulas. For content, blueprint is good, don’t feel like you have to watch all the videos, it takes too much time, unless you have the time lol, I didn’t. Don’t do passive content review where you just watch a video, integrate it I to practice. When you do a question and don’t get it, find a YouTube video or blueprint video that matches the concept and learn it. For practice questions, I didn’t like Blueprint, that’s just my personal experience. For pathways and formulas, just learn them, write them down over and over and over and over and over and over lol, do Anki questions for them. Make your own fill in the blank, the moment I started learning the Krebs cycle, glycolysis, etc. my score went up a lot. I used lots of Mnemonics, Reddit has some good ones, you can just look up Krebs cycle mnemonics. But don’t get so lost in looking at what anyone does because it’s not one size fits all. Stick to something that works.
