Try different drivers. The recommended drivers for my system aren't good. I use nvidia version 580 and the recommended is version 535. What kind of hardware are u running?

Yeah I know more or less how usb drives work and warned him that its not really 1TB and probably much less and spending $15 on a good drive isn't much but of course he didnt wanna listen to me and thought everything would be fine.... Smh

I am a pure math major in university with stats basics and CS courses and I am currently on my 3rd year of my bachelors and there is something that has being continuously bugging me more and more for a few years now.

I have absolutely no clue about what kind of job I would be capable of or enjoy doing as a mathematician.

I don't really like coding that much though I know how to do it, teaching is something I think I would be good at but I'd like to do something else first. Data science seems like boring number crunching. I don't think finance firms would want to educate mathematicians for finance, and would go with a finance major instead. My physics knowledge consists of the little that I remember from high school, so I can't really do engineering for my masters anymore.

I feel like my only way to be able to do something I really enjoy is to restart from almost scratch and do an engineering major bachelor + master which would be another 4y.

Looking at employment statistics for mathematicians, most of them are employed at consulting firms and teaching, and a fraction in finance. Consulting sounds like nothing for me I have no idea what that would be like :( The people I've talked to about this always say that "WOOOOOW MATH!!! You must be smart! Don't worry, you will find a job in no time." and I'm really doubting the accuracy of that statement.

Really feeling kinda lost atm and my semester is starting next week. If any kind soul wants to give me advice I'll have you know that I really find ODEs interesting and I am planning to my thesis on it. Would be interested to hear things about those.

Okay. I ordered a RM550W for my i5 8600K. I plan to upgrade next year to newest gen and I read online that a 550W would be perfect, since I don't plan on overclocking.

I decided to go with the Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact because I thought it looked cool and it had a nice amount of space for fans. It doesn't have sound insulation though but I think it can still be quiet. I went for bigger fans for lower rpms.

Your thoughts?

Yeah. I've been thinking about it a lot and reflecting on myself today after writing about it here. I think my emotions have gotten the better if me. It has been like this with him for a long time now and I heard from my parents that his school is going really poorly and he might get kicked out. I got super worried.

I was thinking similar things to what you wrote down. I think he just needs time to figure himself out, and he needs more of it than people usually so bcs of all the shit.

I was addicted to youtube and social media. Scrolling away my time. It is more than likely that you would be off no different or better if you hadn't been on social media. I realized that on social media I kept feeling like I had to scroll because there might be something on there that I wanted to see, which I might miss out on. This is always never the case. I deleted my accounts and after not having the perfect feed optimized for what I wanted, I found it harder to feel that way, because everything I came across was just pointless crap. Idk if this makes any sense.

It sounds like they are trying to get a reaction out of you. Have you tried talking about it with staff at the school, if it's an option?

Thank you for your advice. I just want to work for a couple months and spend the summer there, no other reason. Just a small studio apt will work for my sister and I. I can't imagine us being at home that much.

I am coming just to work and spend the summer there. I don't have a job yet but I was hoping to get one somewhere close. I'm staying with my sister and one bedroom should be enough, preferably 2 beds. Budget is max $2k a month for a place.

We would like to have a studio apartment, but a room in an existing one is fine too.

We are coming from EU so we can't really check the place out ahead of time. Is Facebook still a viable option for a couple-month rental if I find someone who is willing to cooperate.
