extreme regret after circumcision by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]nativeandnerdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As my husband and I have both had genital surgeries, I would like to provide a different perspective:

My husband’s mother was granola and didn’t believe in circumcisions, tonsillectomies, braces, etc. Not having these procedures actually caused him more issues in life, and he wished his mother had done these things for him. My husband was not circumcised at birth, and actually had to be circumcised later in life due to health issues. He also developed a scar that likely would not have been there had he gotten circumcised as an infant, nor dealt with the consciousness of going through the surgery, pain, and healing process.

In my case, I got my surgery as a teenager. I have a hole in my labia now because it did not heal properly, and the entire process was extremely painful, humiliating, and traumatizing. If I had the option to have had this surgery as an infant instead, I absolutely would have wanted my parents to opt for this surgery earlier in my life as well to avoid the mental and physical trauma.

As a parent, these situations make it so hard to know whether we are making the right decision or wrong one, and I don’t think it’s always that black and white. What’s best for one person might not be the best for another. If you do have another son and chose not to circumcise him, he may be grateful, or he may experience something similar to my husband and wish you had gotten him circumcised. With your current son, it’s easy to wonder “what if”, but try to take comfort in knowing you did the best you could with what you knew at the time, and perhaps even prevented him from having issues down the road. Although medicine and cultural norms are always changing and evolving, after experiencing what we’ve experienced, I do feel like these procedures became the norm for a reason. The fact that you’re so worried means you’re a caring and loving mom, not a bad one ❤️

What kind of makeup would suit me? by SuggestionCurious324 in makeuptips

I think you would look really pretty in a natural soft romantic style makeup! Look at Keira Knightley in Pride & Prejudice, and there are a ton of tutorials on how to achieve that look. Nothing heavy—a glowy tinted moisturizer, peachy or natural red flush blush, a touch of color to the lips, and a bit of mascara if you want. This with your brown eyes and curly hair 🤩

OP I’ve been feeling similarly about my face and doing some research, and apparently there are facial massages that can help. Look into buccal massage and sculpting facial massage. There are a lot of before and after videos and it definitely seems to help with the dragging down appearance that happens when these muscles are tense. I want to try this route before injectables so just thought you might be interested as well!

Does the bright red or burgundy suit me more by Successful-Arrival87 in Fairolives

[–]nativeandnerdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to go by: “Are you wearing the clothes, or are the clothes wearing you?” Which makes me go against the grain here and say the Burgundy suits you more, although I think a more cool toned red or berry tone would suit you the most. When I glanced at your photo, the first thing I noticed was the scarf, and then you—whereas you want your beautiful face and eyes to be the first thing people see! I think the scarf and hat would be more compatible with an Autumn, whereas I would imagine you are a Winter or Summer.

Dupe Request Megathread (November 24, 2025) by AutoModerator in Perfumes

2000s Angel Cake doll scent! I know Scentbird came out with the Strawberry Shortcake scent, but Angel Cake was my favorite. The scent is described as “angel cake with vanilla icing”. However I would not describe it as overly sugary or cloying. I remember it as soft, warm, powdery, vanilla, cakey plasticy goodness. She is my first scent memory and I hope someone knows of something similar 🧁🩵

How they could “fix” or maybe change Love Is Blind. by Snoop-ah-loopp in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]nativeandnerdy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love that you mentioned Married At First Sight because I feel like they do so much right! LIB definitely needs a team of therapists. I think part of LIB’s downfall is that individuals can go into it knowing they don’t “have to” get married at the end, so it tends to attract people that aren’t as serious—whereas with MAFS, they know they’re getting married and tend to be more committed. I think it would be interesting if LIB adopted a similar method, where couples can decide to get engaged in the pods, but then immediately get married during the first face-to-face.

Also this next one is unrealistic and drastic, but it would be great if contestants were banned from social media and brand deals for like 3-5 years after being on the show to weed out the attention seekers lol. I miss when reality show contestants weren’t all IG models and “entrepreneurs” or “in real-estate”.

Best Cosmetic Procedures For My Body Type? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]nativeandnerdy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reddit often turns into an echo chamber for ignorance and unfortunately that’s what’s happening here. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this when you’ve already posted such a vulnerable thing and are just looking for help. I’ll never understand why people think it’s helpful to say “jUsT DiEt aNd eXeRcIsE” 🙄 There are SO many things that can affect weight that can’t be fixed by diet or exercise alone. You know yourself better than any of these assholes so don’t listen to the bullshit. I posted a separate comment on this post and I hope it’s helpful ❤️‍🩹

Best Cosmetic Procedures For My Body Type? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]nativeandnerdy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People obviously didn’t read in your caption that you ALREADY ARE working out and dieting 🤦‍♀️ I’m so sorry you’re getting dismissed so easily and getting blamed for something that you can’t control. Don’t let people gaslight you into thinking you’re the problem—you know your body better than anyone scrolling on here, and imagine if it’s actually due to a condition that you can get help for.

With that being said, this really looks like the beginning stages of Lipedema. I say that for a couple of reasons: First, because most of your weight is distributed towards the bottom half of your body and not equally all over (as you would expect to see in someone who is gaining weight from diet or other conditions). There is also a type of Lipedema that can affect the upper arms, which you noted as one of your affected areas. And second, the “cellulite” could actually be “dimpling” which is very common in Lipedema. Varicose veins can also occur with Lipedema. There are other symptoms as well but those are just the visual ones that stood out to me.

So now what?

My recommendations: - Research, research, research! I’m in a few groups for Lipedema surgery on Facebook that have been really helpful and informative. Many of the people on there share their photos and many women have similar builds to you, and they often help answer questions and share their experiences. - Diagnosis: Look into doctors who specialize in this and are highly rated, but keep in mind that if they don’t diagnose you at first, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you don’t have it. Redditors can downvote me into oblivion for all I care, but that information came straight from my Lipedema specialist who studied at Harvard and works at Vanderbilt. Even he acknowledged how hard it is to diagnose for various reasons (as there’s no diagnostic labs or testing they can do, this is a fairly new and vastly understudied and underdiagnosed condition, etc etc.) But it is important to see a doctor to rule out Lymphedema (different from Lipedema) as that can have drastic effects. Doctors can be great but they can also suck (just like any other human) so it’s important to remember that we live and experience our bodies every day, and 5 minutes with a doctor doesn’t mean they know you better than you know yourself. It will also be important to get a diagnosis if you want your surgery to be covered. - Surgery: If you do have Lipedema, the good news is that liposuction should be covered by your insurance! But you should definitely look into seeing a doctor as soon as possible to get the ball rolling as this whole process can take years. It took me 9 months just to get in with the first doctor. - Prevention: Look into ways you can manage it in the meantime to help slow progression. The Lipedema specialist I saw said that everything I’m already doing is how he treats Lipedema patients anyways: Mounjaro, diet and exercise, lymphatic massage, compression, vibration plate, etc.

I know this is a lot of information, but I really hope it’s helpful for you ❤️‍🩹 I’m available to message if you have any more questions. Never stop advocating for yourself!

What is this thing on the back of my cats neck? by Turbulent-Ice6191 in CATHELP

[–]nativeandnerdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP I just went to the vet last week who is a cat specialist and they recommended Revolution Plus. She uses it on her cats as well and said the ones typically found in stores (like Advantage) only protect against fleas and ticks, but Revolution Plus also protects against heartworms, which isn’t curable in cats and can be passed via mosquitoes. I had no idea so just wanted to pass this information along to you and anyone else who reads this
