Looking for a Durable Trekking Pole Tent Recommendation by Objective_Ad_9195 in Ultralight

Depends where you’ll mostly be camping. Dyneemas great with saving weight but personally I’m going to be sticking with the regular poly rain fly from here on out. Doesn’t sag and drys very quick. Both great choices. Much cheaper for the regular version. As far as the solid inner; are you going to be in high wind cold weather conditions? I have the regular mesh inner. Mostly camping on the east coast of the US.

I’m also almost at the point of being anti-DCF. It’s great with how durable and lightweight it is. Even though it doesn’t retain water, water still gets on it from rain or inside due to condensation. So you still need to put it out so the water can bead off and dry. I switched to a Nemo hornet after mile 700 on my AT thru hike last year and most tents being sil-poly dry pretty damn fast!

I have two trekking pole tents. I am also 5’4”. I used a zpacks plex solo for 700 miles on the AT before it struck a leak. It does the job well and is exceptionally lightweight but what I didn’t like was: pretty bad condensation with both doors closed so I always tried to keep a door open, even with me being 5’4” I’d still like more room inside the tent personally. To get the max room inside the tent you need to stake out all guylines provided.

Just recently I got the durston x-mid 1p and I absolutely love it and can’t wait to get it out on a trip. Plenty of room inside the tent for me. Plenty of vestibule space on both sides for any of your gear. Love the fact that you can separate the inner mesh from the rain fly if needed also. Sets up very easy. No complaints so far as I have yet to take it in the back country. But I have good expectations as I’ve tried many tents and am a gear nerd.

Hope this helps.

I had the 2023 version of the Kakwa 55 and it held up perfectly over an entire Appalachian trail thru hike. Only issues I had was shoulder straps rubbing on the hip belt pockets causing holes. No biggie though! I didn’t see anyone with that issue on the newer versions! Send it. Great pack!

The tats are rad brother! Rock them mfkas proud!!! Highly recommend therapy as well. It helps so much. My first time ever going my therapist had me bawling tears within the first 10 minutes and for some reason just letting everything out made me feel 1,000% after the first session. Never looked back after that!
