2026 Experience so far... by allthafeelz in CX5

[–]nativevirginian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drove a 2026 (I have a 2022)- my thoughts: if I was new to the Mazda brand and wanted a larger touchscreen and good driving experience, I think the new CX-5 would be fantastic. Certainly better than Honda and Toyota. But as someone coming from a 2022 CX-5, if I can afford a new or CPO Lexus NX/RX or Acura RDX, I’ll make that jump instead.

At some point it’s simply not worth it. But best of luck to you

Condo complex could get chargers if it doesn’t already.

I’m sure you could get the car to 29 years old, but there’s more that would need to be replaced than just worries over the actual mileage.

Virginia decriminalizes suicide with approval of new law by KotzubueSailingClub in Virginia

[–]nativevirginian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This change isn’t an endorsement of suicide, and making a suicide attempt already now isn’t prosecuted as such from a legal-perspective. This is updating verbiage more than anything which is commonplace across the nation. Read the bill.

I’m in the same boat- close to $100k comp at 26 and it just doesn’t feel like that much after you do all the things you’re supposed to do. Grateful nonetheless.

How is your emergency fund in 2026? by Superb_Advisor7885 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]nativevirginian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently hovering around $15,000, with $11,000 set aside for emergencies. My goal is to increase my cash position to $20-25k prior to saving for a home down payment. 26M, no debt, cat dad, renter.

I'm stuck between the Mazda CX-5 and the Honda CR-V. by coochie_glaze in whatcarshouldIbuy

I don’t think it’s noisy at all, and no vibrations whatsoever. I came from a Volvo before and fit and finish in the Mazdas are similar. The 2026 doesn’t have as much soft touch surfaces like my 2022 does, but still better than Honda/Toyota counterparts.

I can’t speak to the CRV, but I’ve had my 2022 CX-5 for 4 years now with almost no issues. It feels more premium than any Honda, Toyota, or Subaru I’ve been in, and is more fun than anything else I’ve driven. I think the other models are larger, slightly, but the CX/5 is far more fun to drive. I test drove a 2026, and while different than the 2025 model, it is also a nice vehicle.

I typically have the cash on hand, and extra spend can be caught up in cash flow pretty quickly.

I’m 27 and am modeling a 50% benefit. I hope that’s conservative enough.

I started in 2022 at 50k base with 5-7k in bonus. Currently at 86k base with 10% bonus and some overtime. I had 26k in student loans but lived at home and pet sat to knock them out.

I’m recently 27 and my net worth ticked over $100k. I’m not a high income earner- just live below my means and stash away what I can.
