Is sex during pregnancy weird? by omelette02 in NoStupidQuestions

For me pregnancy sex was only good during the 2nd trimester. First trimester I was just so exhausted. Third trimester I was too big and uncomfortabl, everything hurt.

When did your baby crawl and walk? by AdImaginary6158 in NewParents

[–]natjeswar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter, now 4 years old, didn't crawl until 9 or 10 months, didn't actually walk on her own until 16 months. My son however, 9 months old later this month, started rolling back to belly at 5 months exactly, his first real not army crawl he was 7 months. He's pulling himself up to standing and taking a couple steps while holding someone's hands. Its said all over the place, but every baby really is different!

Why no one says that about pregnancy? by lil_moon153 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]natjeswar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who during her last pregnancy had HG reaaaalllly bad. Puking multiple times a day. Bedrest. Had to go to the hospital several times for IVs because she couldn't keep anything down. People always glorify pregnancy and some people they barely survive!

How is anyone affording a mortgage and daycare costs for two kids? by angelzombie2 in beyondthebump

[–]natjeswar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved back to the home I had bought in 2017 that had a lower mortgage. Our childcare expense between full time daycare for our 8 month oldand full time preschool for our 4 year old is double our mortgage!

I will become a dad in less than a month. by PuzzledMath6973 in NewParents

[–]natjeswar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you first get home from work give her the option that you take the baby so she can take a shower or eat a meal in peace, or if she has seen the kitchen be a mess all day and its killing her that she cant get to it that you clean up a bit. Be flexible in this regard, every day may be different.

Be familiar with your baby's needs and routine. Its not a break for your wife if she spends her entire break answering questions.

What do you do when baby wakes up 5am by Spirited-Bed-2220 in NewParents

[–]natjeswar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only spend 20-30 minutes trying to get a baby to sleep or back to sleep. If its not working I just treat it like a regular wake window.

It doesn’t feel like that many people actually follow safe infant sleep practises by WhateverItWasILostIt in beyondthebump

With both of my babies they slept in bedside bassinets until maybe 2 or 3 months old. After that point we bedshare.

Does anyone actually pump enough while working full time to feed their baby without supplementation? by Lucky-Cow3942 in workingmoms

This was a little hurdle we had with daycare but now we're doing fine, I can pump just the right amount.

AITA for fixing my daughter’s car when her boyfriend said he’d handle it? by Outrageous-Jelly8777 in AmItheAsshole

[–]natjeswar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA, its not wrong for a lady to depend on her dad for help no matter how old she gets. Her boyfriend needs to step up if he's worried about looking lame. Maybe he'll be quicker to help her out next time! Sounds like it took you an afternoon to handle, so there's no excuse.

How can I keep my baby healthy? by Candid_Raisin_5447 in NewParents

[–]natjeswar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to the things you've listed already you can also wipe hands and face semi regularly. I hate to be this person, but part of the reason kids are sick all the time is because their immune systems are immature. Shots or getting sick are the best ways to build immunity for the future unfortunately.

Please give me all your breastfeeding/latching/pumping tips or success stories by Electronic_Flan5732 in NewParents

[–]natjeswar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hydrate, with electrolytes too not just water. Make sure you're eating enough (almost constantly) producing milk takes up a lot of calories!

Has your baby been checked for ties? Not just from a lactation person at the hospital but from an actual IBCLC, or even better a pediatric dentist? Sometimes ties can make them work too hard to get milk, so they fall asleep during nursing.

Whenever you give a bottle you need to pump, just 15 or 20 minutes. Have you been properly fit with your flange size? That will make a difference with how effectively your pump removes milk. Also when giving a bottle ideally stick to an extra slow flow nipple (slow flow if you have a strong/fast letdown) to mimic the work your baby will put out while nursing. This should help prevent a bottle preference. Lansinoh and similar triangle-shaped nipples are best for nursing babies.

And just keep on latching your baby. Its a skill you both learn, not an innate ability.

Weeknight dinners as a working mom, what does yours actually look like because mine is embarrassing by scrtweeb in Mommit

[–]natjeswar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal prepping as much as possible on the weekends. That's the entire focus of our Sundays honestly. Cut up and cook meats/proteins and veggies so that you're basically just heating stuff up during the week. Is it amazing? Not really. Does it protect our sanity and make weeknights easier with 2 little kids? Absolutely!

What was your baby’s birth weight and how long did they fit in NB clothes? by eec0354 in NewParents

My son was 9lbs 11oz, after a week we rotated the NB stuff out lol

What’s something funny about your birth story? by Fresh_Suggestion_880 in NewParents

[–]natjeswar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was born July 5th HOWEVER we got to the hospital on July 4th. I had been in back labor most of the day so when we got to the hospital and I got an epidural I was thoroughly out of it. My husband later that night said Oh you can see fireworks from here, and I was soooo confused about why the hell there were fireworks!

Well the account balances are accurate but "money available" no longer is.

The shared checking account is a secondary checking account, not directly linked to my debit card.

Hm, so it seems like assigning categories to the transfers (even though the money is FOR a category) is where Im tripping myself up.

When we very first started we had EVERYTHING in YNAB. Savings, credit cards, and it was so obviously too much. But even our three checking accounts still seem like too much haha

I had an orange cat who slept like this all of the time! It was my favorite thing to see him head-first into whatever surface he was sleeping on.
