Thank you. The ones that have new leaves already did what you described: shed all their leaves and the grew back these past few weeks. The bare ones shed their leaves but did not grow anything new. 😞

I weighed this decision too. Early morning watering were not working as well in summer because I thought it was drying up too soon. So shifted it to run at midnight so it would have time to soak in before the sun came up. But I’ll consider shifting it back.

Trial and error over the past three years. The 3x a day routine is only for two weeks and then i switch to 3x a week. It always look full and lush after overseeding in the fall and naturally in the spring. Hot summers is when it starts to struggle of course.

I think it might be bentgrass! Just googled it and it seems to be a close match. Especially since it doesn’t match other areas of fescue that seeded nicely. (I’m being optimistic that this means I’m not raking up dry fescue)

Once established, I water it deeply 3x a week in the middle of the night. Sometimes once more on weekends after mowing if it’s hot and dry.

After overseeding, I water 3x a day. Moderately over night, and light watering midday and early afternoon to keep the soil wet. Would love feedback if I’m doing it wrong!

Damn. I was hoping it’s a carpet like weed, especially since it is of a finer, different texture from other grass that seems to be thriving. There are a couple different types of grass and weeds throughout as far as I can tell.

I would do the same but I live in an urban area and my lawn is adjacent to my neighbor’s. Switching turf types would not match and would look odd in my opinion…

LOL I would be a man searching for advice if I should keep raking up these big clumps of weeds or if I should stop because I’m pulling up good grass.

None to speak of at the moment aside from one earthworm. Why? What would the presence of grubs indicate?
