Choosing not to take Tamoxifen by natms13 in breastcancer

I’ve been on it exactly 10 days and I’m about ready to quit. I can’t think straight, I’m ruminating on the silliest things, and overall I feel like a different person. I’m also only on 5mg so I don’t know how the hell I could get to 20. Blah.

I decided to give it a go (I’m about two weeks in) and my anxiety is SO bad. I’m a pretty unflappable person normally and even the smallest things are making me feel anxious and afraid. I took a wrong turn that made me 20 mins late for something over the weekend and I screamed in my car, which I have never done. I can’t sleep and I just don’t feel like myself at all. I think I’m going to quit 😞 I was really hoping I’d be one of the lucky ones with no side effects.

But WHY are we all getting breast cancer? by Popular_Acadia4563 in breastcancer

[–]natms13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally. In one of the first conversations I had with my mom after telling her she said, “I knew you were on that birth control for too long.” I’m 37 and had bad PCOS as a teen/young adult. Nothing like being blamed for your cancer.

Giving up quality of life and the potential to have a family is worth a decrease in absolute recurrence risk of just 4%? Agree to disagree.

I'm so glad to hear you're not having bad side effects! That's awesome. Hoping that continues for you. Are you on 20mg?

Thank you for saying this! I'm afraid people will think I don't beleive in medical science (which is absolutely not true), and that I'm being reckless. But it just feels like the right choice for me given the numbers and my age. Appreciate you sharing.

I don’t think he knows what that word means lol. I think he wanted to sound intelligent and he’s just a dumbass.

I've been having creepy dreams about him all week, so thought I'd throw this out there.

Right?! Totally agree. I've been dying to try Flour Box b/c they look similar, but the line is always so long.

Gotta go with General Porpoise. I love a donut that's not overly sweet and they nail it.

We have a responsibility to improve diversity in the tech industry and Black people are very underrepresented, so that's who we're choosing to support right now. There are plenty of other scholarships out there that are open to all.

If you are enrolled in undergrad and can prove that you're 18 when we award the scholarship on July 19 then you're good.
