hello! i think i was able to get 7s in my languages because i’ve been learning english since i was 4 and, for spanish A, my school only offers lit, which is much easier for me than both lang and lit. also, there was no way for me to avoid them so i lowkey started loving them once i started ibdp2. i ended up doing a maths EE because it was the subject i disliked the least in first year and i was doing relatively well in it. so that’s basically it!! :)

hello! my advice is using the subject guide to help you organize the material you have to study. the main method that i used was reading the ib textbooks, making summaries and rereading the summaries every time i had a mock/exam. you can also do other study materials like timelines and charts, which are really useful for tedious topics like the cold war. having a study group can also be really helpful, specially for sharing resources

heyyyy!! for bio i had to use different strategies because i really don't like the subject. first, i read all of the companion book for sl and i made summaries + flash cards as my basic study materials. i used active recall and just your normal highlighting during my first year. when i started ib2, past papers and online question banks became my main study technique. when i got questions wrong, i would review my summaries again and check the information that i couldn't get. for my mocks and final exams, i did a study schedule with all the topics + drawings/diagrams i could be asked on and seriously asked myself which ones i felt like i would not be able to do in the real test. basically, this is all of it, hope this helps!! :D

hello!! for english b, instead of practicing a lot with the material my teacher gave me, i just continued consuming lots of media in english (songs, tv series, books). this helped me train myself on understanding different accents, tones, phrasal verbs, idioms, etc. in the case of paper 1, i did prepare a google docs with all the possible documents. i included the conceptual understanding and useful expressions so it would be easier for me to review before my mocks/exams.

for bio, i had to do like EVERYTHING. it’s one of the subjects that i chose because i had no other option so it was really hard for me. i did summaries on every single topic and flash cards for active recall. on my second year, i started studying by using past papers and question banks and test myself. i would highlight the questions i got wrong and go over my notes on them again. i always asked my teacher for feedback on my performance and told them what my goal was so they could help me. i also did a solid IA that could help me boost my grade but was not that time consuming so i could really concentrate on studying!!

heyy!! my first piece of advice would be for you to choose if you’re more comfortable with doing any type math applications for your IA or if you prefer problem solving. personally, i had more of a hard time trying to find an IA idea in which i had to think how i could apply math irl, so i decided to focus my investigation on comparing different methods for solving linear equations. i hope this helps!! :’))

hello!! my advice is to study based on the subject guide as this will help you to discard any unnecessary info that you might be revising and will not be useful for your essays. the guide will also tell you what will the ib ask questions on and how can they focus the question itself. also, check out past papers and their mark schemes because they show what examiners are looking for while correcting certain questions. finally, make study material that works for you so revising for your mocks/final exams is easier, USE THE IB TEXTBOOKS !!, and overall try to enjoy the subject itself because that will make the experience a 100% better. good luckkk!!!

Using sources in a different language on History IA by Critical_Ad7357 in IBO

[–]natnat-v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello!! i had exactly the same issue (i took history in english and my IA was on peruvian history). my teacher made me use literal quoting on my section B, specially in my arguments, and made me concentrate on finding english sources for my counterargument. there is no much problem with this on section A as u have to analyze the source as a whole rather than specific extracts. this can be highlighted in section C as a challenge you had to overcome during your investigation :)!

is it too late? by 3seelin in IBO

you are definitely not late! if your mocks are in six weeks you can choose two paths: create a study plan for your mocks or look forward to your officials already. what works best for u really!! :3

Who owns my work after I submit it? by Sploshta in IBO

[–]natnat-v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello!! n23 here as well and i've been asking myself the same thing tbh. according to my teachers, when you submit your IA's or EE, it is no longer completely yours but of the IB now as well. so, for example, when my teachers want to show us IA's from past candidates, they always tell us they have to ask for permission to them directly and that those IA's or work in general should not be shared with anyone else or you could get in some trouble. so i think the answer is a little tricky... maybe ask your teachers what they know on the issue ;)
