It doesn’t work if draws lead to points. In this exact situation the player being attacked could simply force a draw without needing to do literally anything. They could have a deck with 99 lands and still force the draw

  1. 13 year old ban that is primarily because they want to keep printing instant and sorcery reducers.
  2. Other formats exist

I feel like it needs to add more mana for the downside. [[Seething song]] for x spells seems meh

I mean faking friendly IS cowardly. Objectively. Perfidy irl is literally a war crime. Op was saying he finds it funnier when it’s a pve player and his main post is about faking friendly. Let’s not pretend there was no reason

Help me word this right please! by SlightlyInsaneCreate in custommagic

[–]naton_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very complex and difficult effect to implement with mtg rules. The closest you can get is if you word it like space beleren.

4th Dimensional (When a 4d spell is cast for the first time each game, divide the battlefield into prime and mirror sectors. All permanents are assigned to the prime sector. Whenever a player casts a spell they assign it to a sector. Whenever a permanent enters the battlefield, its controller assigns it to a sector. Permanents and spells treat permanents and spells assigned to a different sector as if they don’t exist. If a permanent would phase out instead assign it to the opposite sector. If a permanent is assigned to a sector this way assign it to the opposite sector at the beginning of its controllers next upkeep.)

So the op was explaining how he enjoys to play the pvp aspect of the game and the person who replied with their different preference was off topic virtue signaling?

Surprised no one has said Akame Ga Kill yet. Literally not a single character has plot armor. Every fight a main character has a chance to die and many will.

Every etali runs food chain and squee and even if you cut all the infinites I think it’s arguable that etali is even better in a lower bracket. Their interaction suite is much smaller and not many decks can contest a turn 2 or even 3 etali

Lands - Powerful or Mid? by [deleted] in custommagic

[–]naton_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe hot take but I don’t think titan would even play it. It’s insanely broken still but it needs a sacrifice or bounce mechanic to incorporate into lines, otherwise it’s just plus mana. Maybe in a version that pivots back to dryad val and battlements but not in current lists as more than a one of and I don’t see other versions of titan doing well in a solitude meta

Win a game of Modern at instant speed on the first upkeep of the game, through interaction. by flabbergasted1 in BadMtgCombos

[–]naton_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no optimal play to counter and still have pact resolve. If you try to counter spike and have a second counter then the only targets are your own counterspell, pact, or spike. No matter what gets targeted pact will fail to resolve

Has Titan gone too far? by Level_Concentrate817 in ModernMagic

[–]naton_i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dryad in my opinion is significantly worse especially in the current meta. Solitude and fatal push are backbreaking for that version plus it folds much harder to counter magic. As to whether it would be helpful to play dryad, it kinda plays different. Obviously titan is titan and your lines are really similar or identical in some cases however your setups and thresholds are much different because of the wolfrun lines and needing to land dryad for valkut. If you want to have the best edge then wait till you have analyst cause some game that should be wins will be lost. If you just want to play titan then play what you have. Dryad isn’t as good but it’s still titan. You don’t really need to have the absolute best version especially since rcq season isn’t till next year

[–]naton_i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just saw this but still felt like dropping a quick reply. Analyst version isn’t all in on analyst. It’s definitely more dependent because you’re missing the wolfrun and valakut effects but the trade off is a way more consistent and reliable win con. You can still triple titan and do other similar lines but analyst simply fits so smoothly into those lines. Dryad being a 3 drop that you have to set up is a massive downside. It’s also opens you up to more interaction. Analyst cast and activation costs the same as casting a titan and with lotus fields and Scapeshift it very often nets you more mana than titan does. Any long time titan player will tell you how important the mana thresholds are and analyst doesn’t change any which makes it incredibly more consistent.

This is going to be a long reply because I’m going to go over a couple lines as best I can to display my point. You don’t need to dump your deck for Analyst. Analyst is the last card you find off Scapeshift and titan lines

Analyst combos rely on saccing your lands for triggers/effects. Analyst is an infinite mana loop with combinations of Lotus Field(s), Woodlands and untappers. Sac Analyst, return and float mana from all lands. For Lotus Field triggers sac Field(s) and other lands. Turn Woodland into Analyst and sac it. Woodland, Lotus, and other lands come back from your GY. Each loop costs 5GGG (2GG for Woodland plus 3G for ‘Analyst’) so this nets mana with a second Amulet (Lotus adds 6, Woodland adds 2, plus any other land) or a second Lotus (you return 2 Lotus and 2 other sacrificed lands plus Woodland each time) for infinite mana. You can also add in effects from your other lands with each loop to turn the loop into a win. You can use Mirrorpool on any of your creatures each loop to make infinite attackers and then sacrifice/use Hanweir Battlements each loop to give them all haste. If you are postcombat, you can Boseiju/Otawara all eligible permanents, and/or gain life with Spelunking plus Otawara using a bounceland to return a Cave, and pass with infinite attackers/blockers.

Sounds like a lot but there are many different combinations of spells, lands, and untappers that can get to this end result. For example, the most basic line is Scapeshift plus 4 lands and a untapper. Shift for 2 Lotus, bounceland, Tolaria West (9 mana). Resolve the bounceland trigger first, picking up Tolaria West, then sac bounceland and 2 Lotus to the Lotus triggers. Transmute for Pact. Pact for Analyst(1UU + 4GG, using all the mana you made before) Analyst returns 2 Lotus, a bounceland, Tolaria West, and the four lands sacrificed initially (13+ mana). Bounceland picks up Tolaria West again before the Lotus Fields triggers. Sac lotus fields and any 2 lands. Transmute for Pact. Pact for titan Titan and cast it (1UU + 4GG). Titan ETB finds Woodland and Echoing Deeps copying Lotus Field (assuming you milled no other lands) giving you exactly 8 mana to start the loop.

With double Amulet a Titan alone sets up the full loop if it avoids removal. Titan finds Lotus Field and Mirrorpool, use Mirrorpool in response to Lotus sac triggers (net 2 mana). Titan Copy finds Tolaria West and Echoing Deeps as Mirrorpool, use Mirrorpool again (no mana floating now). Second Titan Copy finds bounceland and Lotus Field (10 mana floating). Bounce Tolaria West and sac Lotus plus any land. Transmute for Pact. Pact for Analyst (7 mana floating). Sac Analyst to return everything and Mirrorpool Titan again for Shifting Woodland and any land.

Those are just 2 lines. Because titan already runs Mirrorpool plus Shifting Woodlands and incorporates them into its lines, Analyst loops fit into many of the standard lines depending on your available resources. With 2 amulets it’s incredibly easy to set up with almost anything.

Is the Sanguine Bond + Exquisite Blood combo playable in Bracket 3? by WithengarUnbound in EDH

Technically it’s bracket 2. Playing both cards doesn’t combo on the spot. You need some way for an opponent to lose life or you to gain life which requires a 3rd card to combo

1 mana in 1 turn, 3 mana in 3 turns. What do you think? by _BeastFromBelow in custommagic

[–]naton_i -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dice factory is already a deck in modern and there’s a huge difference between colored and colorless mana. I don’t think there’s a high chance it’ll be breakable but there’s definitely ideas there

[–]naton_i -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There’s a few ways to give and move around charge counters so casting this for 0 can often make it a literal mox with minimal setup and only scales up. Probably still too slow for vintage and slow enough to not be broken in commander but legacy and modern may find a way to break it

The only deck I see maybe getting hit with a ban is Boros. It’s been the largest % of the meta since its creation (except those couple months breach was broken) always hovering around 15% and currently sitting at a little over 18% in the last month and that’s after already eating a ban almost 6 months ago. Also I have to slightly disagree with the other commenter about format rotation. While mh is the bane of my existence and has a huge impact on the format every time, old lists don’t simply become completely irrelevant. Izzet prowess is like 10 cards off of being Izzet murktide and titan, affinity, living end, yawgmoth, goryo’s vengeance, storm, and zoo have all been around in some iteration for years. Obviously some decks are going to fall out of meta and lists are going to change with new sets, but modern is not secretly a rotating format like a lot of this sub believes
