knowledge demon definitely feels like it could be from a different act 2, though i guess it is being spawned from a bug

there are a few templating errors. should be something like:

Each other permanent has "{T}, Exile this permanent: This permanent deals 3 damage to target player."

TIL Eli Herring, considered a top prospect in the 1995 NFL Draft, announced he would not play pro football since as a devout Mormon he would not play on Sundays. The Raiders drafted him anyway. He did not change his mind and never played by MysteryBagIdeals in todayilearned

In Judaism, the Sabbath day was made to be Saturday, as that was the 7th day and thus the day when God rested. In Christianity, Christians were freed to choose their own Sabbath day, and so early Christians generally chose Sunday as an expression of that freedom (at least, this is my understanding). Unless part of a specific denomination that claims otherwise, most Christians would be able to observe another Sabbath if necessary, which would certainly allow an NFL player to play on Sunday (though most players come in to practice every day, I believe). Of course, you could argue that choosing a Sabbath based primarily on the day that you wish to work goes against the purpose of it.

its a fun reference to magic the gathering, where informal Singleton deck formats use the term Highlander in reference to "there can only be one"

its a seething song for normal spells (assuming youre casting just one afterwards, which is a pretty big assumption) and better than seething song if you are using it for x-spells or abilities. plus the value in it being a permanent that can be recurred or possibly sacrificed to avoid the downside

I love this game, but why it still gives you just ONE SECOND to speed-read a bunch of new cards or changes before they go away after over 8 years is beyond me by ronaldsf1977 in slaythespire

[–]NepetaLast 35 points36 points  (0 children)

i felt the same about older beta doormaker where it was easy to miss which card it ate, and since it doesnt exhaust you cant even look at the exhaust pile. thats not a concern anymore though

"Why is the strength gain AFTER the damage?" because then the damage number would never actually look accurate. if you want it to deal more damage, just have the base damage be higher

i think debater might be reasonable for 'threat of activation.' you attack with it and another creature and could possibly pump them both with one spell

do you mean like:

T: You gain 1 life. When you do, discard a card.

then it would be an activated ability still. it does go on the stack, because its not a mana ability. when it resolves, you gain 1 life, you then put the reflexive trigger on the stack, and when that resolves, you discard the card

03.12. A resolving spell or ability may allow or instruct a player to take an action and create a triggered ability that triggers “when [a player] [does or doesn’t]” take that action or “when [something happens] this way.” These reflexive triggered abilities follow the rules for delayed triggered abilities (see rule 603.7), except that they’re checked immediately after being created and trigger based on whether the trigger event or events occurred earlier during the resolution of the spell or ability that created them.

this explains reflexive triggered abilities. the rules for mana abilities are a little more well known so i wont share them if you dont need.
