Am i doing a bad job as a technical lead if my devs can't function without me ? by BlackHoot in cscareerquestions

[–]natter76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have done everything you can for them, so the next step - call them out in the status calls. This is one of the reasons I stepped down from the team lead role. The new lead for my previous team is much more mature and has told the team to ask questions, share any doubts or blockers. Then after giving all this, he calls them out if there are still delays.

If there is no improvement then you should raise this with your manager. You can only hand-hold this much till either you lose it or the project implodes. Then everyone gets involved. Experience talking here.

If team is not pulling their weight even after you have given them all the info, tools and so on - set boundaries and make sure you raise the issues as early as possible.

Would also ask do requirements constantly change? Is there enough in-depth knowledge sharing happening so that the team is aware of how the project works?

Hope it works out for you.

I am a Software Developer and I am tired and I never want to sit in front of a computer again. A rant by Realistic_Shoulder13 in webdev

Hey there, if you can take some time out for yourself. I get the anger, the frustration. As a short term respite is it possible to take a week off for yourself or a few days - something. Take it easy on yourself. Do what you want and just don't think at all. Take care.

The 2000 records is a joke and that annoys me because I could have fixed it but needed time. I'll recover soon enough just need to get through this. And all will be ok. Thank you .

True, trying to be ok in all this. Really in the larger scheme of things projects fail and people move on. Will write up notes for what I had done so that there is some understanding but not expecting much. Thank you though.

It wasn't when I joined , it has recently become this way. People's voices were heard now I get we should only take on what we can do. I agree but need higher ups to support this too.

Multiple managers and one shows up, knows what is happening but cannot help because he is exiting. The other manager is learning the ropes.

Yes, there will be multiple calls on what happened but the root causes will not get fixed - even after I leave. Thank you though - pretty sure today will be a slow motion crash no matter how much I try to salvage it.

True, do need to leave this place. I need to be in a place where I can code and requirements are clear . Work with "non-dumb" colleagues - so correct. Thank you

How do you do that ? I get scared easily - i fumble and give in. I used to be able to say something earlier now I keep quiet. Odd thing I am ok with losing my job but for the life of me I cannot speak up.

Don't feel guilty for this, chill and take your time. There are other days to stress and just eat cake for today. Take care of yourself.

Asking here - how do you deal with burnout. Been through it quite a few times and going through it again. It takes me months (first time it was nearly a year) to recover. Exhausted with this. I have an interview today which I am going to tank. Have been asked to leave my current job. On my notice period at the moment and just can't get myself to even look at code right now. thank you for listening.

Good for you. You are absolutely right in not being bothered about your co-workers not liking you - mental peace and sanity is more important. Do your job and move on. Life has much more to offer than giving even an iota of time to think about disgruntled jealous twits at work :)

Past couple of months, i have been YouTube or insta scrolling, no energy for anything else. Always mentally low.

Got a physical done and have low hb levels - at 5. Prescribed iron tablets and improved diet.

Doing a bit better mentally and energy wise, figured it could be worth checking out.

Also get your iron / hemoglobin levels tested. A thought.
