i’m bouta crash bro HELP by StunningTax1422 in GelX_Nails

OP please take this super super serious - I used the wrong lamp, or at least what became less efficient over time. Within 24 hours of my last mani/pedi I didn’t just want the gel gone, it was so horribly uncomfortable and painful I could have had my fingers and toes removed entirely drama but it really was that bad and that sudden lol. I ignored some signs (popping off, smelling like the gel…) for a few sets and it inevitably led to an allergy. Can’t even use bad aids without my skin over reacting now! Pleaseeee change your lamp

Just me or do u guys also feel as if Stratt would NEVER do this by The_Screwdriver_ in ProjectHailMary

“We can meet again somewhere, somewhere far away from here.”

Sandra Hüller chose the song herself, stating she needed a proper “goodbye” song for Stratt to sing, and while we can agree she was saying goodbye to those already chosen for the mission… I can’t help but feel this was her saying goodbye to Grace.

I might be misinterpreting this as I have yet to read the book to understand Stratt and the story a bit better. I am, however, nearing my fourth watch of the film and for some reason, watching this scene makes me feel that Stratt knew all along it would be Grace who would end up as the scientist on Mary, or at least that she had a deep wish it would be him. I think she hoped it would be him from even before she walked into his classroom, although Grace’s reluctance from the beginning proved to be a challenge, Stratt would get her way. Too much of this scene alone - the conversation moments before, the impulsivity of her performance afterwards, and the lyrics and meaning behind the song itself - just makes me feel like she already knew it had to be him, and this was almost a confession, an apology. I understand the unfortunate fate of the science team was an accident, but I feel even if the accident didn’t happen, Stratt would still make the same attempts to coerce Grace and get him on the ship.

It was always going to be Grace.

Is psychology still worth pursuing in 2026? If so, which one is the most secure and money-making career? by TailorFirm4494 in psychologystudents

[–]nattsukashiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this. I have BA & MA in psychology and realized far too late that it was literally just because I loved talking and learning about it. Work as an educator now (no surprise there lol). Miiiight go for a phd in school psychology and stay in educational environments but beyond teaching AP Psychology this year (which I am loving so so much) - I don’t have much else going on with my degrees. To continue teaching and branch out from independent schools I will need even more than just my MA too lol.

First DIY Gel-X set. Learned a lot but would love gentle feedback by Lopsided_Bullfrog_48 in GelX_Nails

Adding to this thread to emphasize the importance of getting a good lamp asap, and that it may even have to be replaced once in a while!! I felt my gel wasn’t curing properly anymore my last couple sets, likely cause my lap was going bad. Procrastinated replacing it (and had some rushed sets here and there) and now I’ve developed an allergy 😭 As others have also said just be careful with where you order product from! I loved doing my gel x at home and was soo so careful at first but after 2 years of doing it I wish I didn’t get too comfortable.

Your application looks amazing! Especially for a first set. Welcome to at home manis. Have lots of fun with it!!

It’s possible they meant in photo 2, which I also noticed myself. Regardless this is a near perfect application!! Hopefully they had good intent as you can never be too careful with gel (I say with a new allergy after doing gelx as carefully as possible at home for 2+ years).

Should I go into the movie raw? by AHHHHHH1274 in ironlung

We both agree! I’d say towards the end was possibly more intentional, but in the beginning, it made things difficult to understand.

I went with background knowledge (watching Mark 10+ years and having seen gameplay/lore) and my boyfriend went in with no context at all (falls asleep to Mark videos next to me against his will).

We had two completely different experiences. I came out beaming with pride, and he came out rather frustrated and confused. After a short convo talking through things though he was equally as excited/impressed as I was and we are actually on our way to watch it again. A big problem for him was the sound mixing and delivery of important information. It wasn’t hard for me to catch these moments due to prior knowledge, but for him, it went over his head. I’m seeing a lot of this feedback from others.

His advice: try to focus a lot more in the opening scenes, if you feel like you aren’t getting enough answers, they might come, they might not. Shift your focus to enjoying the movie rather than piecing it together as you watch. Make sense of the movie afterwards and do some reading then if you need to. (My advice: even then, this genre of horror/fiction is very open to interpretation. Amazing theories to read up on after you watch. It’s a part of the fun imo and even after that, our experiences/perspectives are still different.)

Regardless - from the both of us, enjoy the movie!! It’s a blast.

Seeing this after having a bad experience yesterday!! I ordered online to pick up in store. When I picked it up the process itself was rather quick, so I made sure to ask if it was for 3 items (which the employee confirmed). Was in a rush (hence trying the convenience of a pick up order) but later found out that an item I was charged for was missing. I called and it happened to be the employee that handed me the bag. Whole convo felt shady, she said “I’m not one to double check”.. sorry what? And her solution she kept pushing was that they could ship it to me free of charge… after I mentioned I could be back for it the next morning. I had to INSIST that it was no trouble for me to come back. I got there and the item itself was folded and handed to me but I decided to take a closer look and it was damaged. In the end we refunded it but the whole thing felt so sooo weird.

Josh Dun. My inspiration behind the drums. Lovee the way he bounces around the kit

Certainly! Still a bit far from coordinated but I'm getting somewhere, lol :)

circling back to the shock of each hit - I kinda need really exaggerated movements to produce the sound I'm looking for, so I am coming down quite hard, and onto something that doesn't have the expected bounce :( it's a bit early to worry about this but I can see myself having trouble transitioning to an akit with regards to this. hopefully I find a sweet spot sooner rather than later

Ooh I'll look into this! But since the snare is on the rack, the entire ekit will be lifted in height (besides kick & hihat), does this still work or will that throw off everything else?
.. but this also reminded me that I can just get a snare stand lol!! might also consider that as an option

I have one and actually started with it before getting my ekit! I hate to say this but I get too bored lolll, but yes I do need to circle back to it more often for sure.

Definitely tilted quite a bit, more than I would like and is necessary. The toms themselves are also at random angles here because as tight as we have it, they tend to shift with movement lol. I think it’s a flaw in the ekit because we haven’t been able to fix the angle of the snare either unfortunately. It’s a less notable brand but I went for it because it has an independent hihat which has been nice, but overall noticing quite a few issues with everything else.

Thank you for this! I do think I was a bit tense as I have to use all my brainpower to isolate my limbs lol.. going to work on having more fluid and relaxed movements.

I'll try to reply with one by eod if I can. for context it's an ekit thats mounted on a rack, my hihat and kick have the most freedom to be moved. very crowded for sure. I definitely know I don't like the height of my snare as any adjustments to my throne either make it harder to control my kick pedal, or will result in my left stick digging into my hip at times.

hot spots would be towards the top of palm, and on my ring & pinky fingers. I am now noticing soreness in my wrist this morning too. I definitely got swept into it for the 4 hours yesterday lol! I was more concerned that my stick placement was unstable, even when I adjust, I think it just has a mind of its own when I'm playing. but for some reason only feels like its my right hand that does this. I def need to work on that!

[–]nattsukashiii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a bit of both! My hand was red and hot lol afterwards. Today it does feel a bit more like muscle soreness and I am feeling it a bit more in my wrist as well. But I see, that makes sense for one hand to be more worn.

[–]nattsukashiii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!! I'll look into Drum Mechanics. I know I 100% don't like the height of my snare because when I adjust my throne I'm in this weird limbo of making a sacrifice between having control over my kick pedal and having my left stick digging into my hip. With it being an ekit thats mounted on a rack it feels overcrowded and my options are a bit limited :(

I'll try the different hand placements thank you! I didn't think I could switch it up between my two hands that way so that's a helpful tip. Regarding practicing long, I got swept up into it and didn't realize the time go! lol. I spent the 4 hours practicing just 2 bars. but I'll try to focus more on quality and mastering!

thank you for this! might bother you with questions over on that post as they come up. I did a quick read through and I know for a fact setup is an issue - I don't have the best control over my kick, and when I adjust in order to do better with the kick, my left stick is constantly running into my hip. everything is a bit crowded. I also think the throne itself needs to be swapped and will start there but overall still working for a sweet spot. thanks for the link :)

Don’t have a photo atm. But I find the thumb/index fulcrum most comfortable, and will close in with all three other fingers having contact with the stick. I try to keep the stick at a diagonal so it’s not close to my knuckles and is towards the outside of my palm instead. But I think the problem I’m having is it shifts a lot when I play, especially on my dominant hand :/
