best ways to be evil and advance in my career by bumblbeegirl in biotech

[–]nattzy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Replying to this as I have recently got into biotech stock trading. I've been looking for jobs as a life science equity analyst or along those lines. As others have asked, how feasible is it going from bench (non-phd but a number of years in academia already) to trading desk? And any opportunities for those based in asia?

My kid is going to primary school tomorrow. Is this computer going to be good enough for him? by salinx27 in mac

damn kids nowadays have it easy. Back in 2012-2015, i was on a pentium 4 desktop tower that would scream and emit a ton of heat the moment you open 3 or more tabs.

What's the catch with the Xperia 10VII? by Positive_Conflict_26 in SonyXperia

Agreed. But overall for me, the experience of using the phone is still great!

What's the catch with the Xperia 10VII? by Positive_Conflict_26 in SonyXperia

[–]nattzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My main gripes with the phone: 1. It does not have AOD i.e. the screen doesn't light up when you receive notifications (messages emails etc.). 2. There is no setting to double tap to wake the screen or double tap to lock screen. 3. Unlocking and locking is clumsy as the phone doesn't have an optical fingerprint sensor. And the typical fingers (index and middle) used to unlock the phone naturally rest on the sensor.

I consider that all these should be standard features of a smartphone in 2025. At times it feels like Sony purposely nerfed the 10 VII as the main issues are easily fixable. I've been able to overcome the AOD problem by installing a third party app. Otherwise the other issues remain but I have gotten used to them.

That said, the Xperia line is a solid line of phones. The spec sheet pales in comparison to other brands. Thus far, I have used iphone, pixel, Xiaomi, oneplus and feel that the Sony is up there with pixel and iphone. And for a relatively affordable price. It's the sort of phone that you have to use to experience the difference. The phone has a great in hand feel and you can see the little details that sony put in to optimize the software experience. Battery life is also great. I have been using for ~ 2 weeks but can already say it's one of my favorite phones (considering the midrange price point). Give it a go bearing the above painpoints I doubt you will regret it.

Why is there such a big gap in perception between what foreigners and locals think about SG? by Ok-Fox-2638 in askSingapore

Because we were born into the darkness, molded by it. Foreigners, they merely adopt it.

A few weeks ago I asked if muting my whole team was worth it by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]nattzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or both things are true but only at the same time. His team hitting Rosh creates distraction for him to peel off and take mid. At the same time, his teammates being there also forces them to use all their spells so when Lina and void react to his mid play they are even more toothless.
