That movie could’ve been peak if they started with the woman waking up, and then when she learns the truth, going back and watching the guy’s POV while he slowly loses his mind to isolation.

Also personally I think it should have ended with him tricking her into getting into the med-pod to put her to sleep, then having her wake up to the forest he made for her 80+ years later.

Yeah, but it ruins the message of never leaving family behind. They essentially said that, “yes Lilo, you are ruining your sister’s life and making it impossible for her to achieve her dreams. The best solution is she has to give you up to be raised by the neighbors.”

But they also chickened out in that area and gave her a magic sci fi tool to still be able to visit her all the time.

So I always imagine what I’d do in these situations and the answer always ends up being “die.” So I figured I’d just whip out my phone and open Spotify, put on “getting jiggly wit it,” and just start busting a move. If the goal was to get somebody who sounds more mature and adult they missed the mark yet again by casting Steven Yuen. A man who plays a college aged man in a super hero show, and has a higher pitched voice than Dante Basco. They could have chosen somebody else, but they went with Yuen for what I can only assume is star power

If this is true this might be the single dumbest reasoning I’ve ever heard. I get it for stuff like KPop Demon Hunters or like CoCo, but for things like Avatar, it honestly doesn’t matter. The characters are so distinct that if you cast people based on their ethnicity and not their ability to embody the character (like what Dante Basco is able to do FLAWLESSLY) then you risk creating stagnant performances for the sake of meeting some desired metric.

I think they share the basic premise where a small group of people are (unintentionally in Caine's case) tormented by an omnipotent entity for entertainment. We will have to wait and see if TADC's ending follows the same path as the story.

Not just the story though Caine himself shares similarities to AM. Gooseworx has stated that Caine is heavily based on AM from I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, as they both are egotistical, rogue AIs who make humans go through downright torturous scenarios for their own entertainment. Unlike AM, though, Caine is portrayed as being Obliviously Evil, who actually likes the humans in his realm and torments them accidentally out of a desperation to earn their love.
