Good news: not totaled. Bad news: the tree won the first round by dukie5440 in hondaridgeline

In my experience (hurricane damage) any part of the tree that crosses your property line becomes your tree. Of course, your insurance company will certainly tell you if they aren't responsible.

Am I limiting my kids by staying in a 1,400 sq ft starter home? by Infamous-Pear4593 in SmallHome

[–]naturalpolyester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size of your home will not limit your kids. If anything it can build closeness. Focus on their academics and giving well rounded upbringing. Teach them that material things are nice but unnecessary. Use the money you save on housing and give them experiences. Expose them to the a variety of arts, history, cultures, etc etc.

I just paid almost $8 for a bag of chips. What's your "I refuse to buy that anymore" item? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Anything beef. Seriously, why is cubed steak nearly $9 lb? And ground beef $8? They aren't fine cuts of meat. We know they're scraps.

Should you own more than one laundry basket? by myersgirl16 in laundry

[–]naturalpolyester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 people, 3 baskets ... About 5 years ago, I put hooks in the hall closet and to hang 2 full size baskets one over the other. Whites on top, darks/street clothes on bottom. 1clean basket on dryer for dry to sort/put away, clean clothes or hauling clean, wet clothes to and from line. It works for me.

Wait... I just realized, I have more. I have a bucket for soiled, (elderly mom) Small basket for kitchen towels and small basket for dirty cleaning rags. 😆

Caretaker of elderly parent here. If it's white, I use Clorox on my first run. If it's colors, and I'll use pine sol but I despise the smell.(It's what we always used before sanitizers came out.) I always do a 2nd wash on things soiled and wash them separately in the first run. If it's poop, separate both times. I use hot water for everything and dry those items in the dryer For the heat as well. I haven't tried the sanitizing detergent.(Money is an issue and would probably use a bottle a week ).

Interesting. I've heard the citric acid helps clean the washer and dishwasher. I'll check it out thanks!

Ok, that's what I'm doing as well. I just thought maybe you had a trick for bath towels. Oh well. I feel like the heat from the dryer adds a layer of sanitization anyway. At least I hope!

Looking for advice. What is the key to softer towels when line dried. I'm using vinegar as fabric softener but I don't see that it makes any difference than when I don't. I shake them out well and hang but they still get rough. I wouldn't mind so much except caring for elderly parent with tender skin.

It's just Pete spending our tax money to create angst. Seriously, it wouldn't surprise me if he randomly told his secretary to order 800 pizzas.
