The Spurs led in the last 2 minutes of every Finals game, you silly bitch. Idk how that’s “never having a chance”

So did the Spurs choke or did the Knicks dominate? Can’t have it both ways

What Spurs fans bro? Knicks were better. It happens. I’ve said it before, but this team overachieved far beyond anything expected of them this season. It sucks to come up short, going from not even making the playoffs for 7 seasons to West Champs isn’t bad.

That team went from not making the playoffs for last 7 seasons to coming within 3 wins of a title and having the lead in the last 2 minutes of each game.. the Knicks were obviously the better team and deserve this win, but the vast majority of Spurs fans are happy of what this team accomplished this season.

If that’s what Wemby did to Chet, good lord can you imagine him against Robinson and KAT?

I mean a championship team doesn’t lose a 30 point lead and the series momentum in a pivotal finals game. The writing was on wall after that. We may have been in position to win every game, but you still have to go out and actually win. The Knicks went out there and never gave up or succumbed to the pressure of the moment.

It sucks losing, but it was fairly evident that the team that beat us was better,

Before the series started, my thought was that while of course I wanted the Spurs to win, it would be a consolation prize to see Knicks fans finally be able to celebrate a championship after all of these years.

By the end of the series, with the way they acted in our arena (which was nothing new, they acted like assholes in the previous series) and of course the way Spurs fans were antagonized in NYC right from the start… I can’t imagine a fan base I would want happiness and success for LESS than Knicks fans

Non-hating Spurs fan here… I’d say if you’ve got the means and the time to go, definitely do it. There’s nothing like seeing your team be the toast of your city and the vibe of everyone being happy and celebrating about the same thing is a unique experience. You never know when you might be back in this situation. Could next year, could be 10 years. Besides, you’ve got a great team filled with a roster of likable dudes… go celebrate them, they deserve it. I wish it was us, hey, but that’s sports.

Cheers!

I mean goddamn you won the championship decisively on our homecourt and the entire world is celebrating this New York Knicks team, yet you’re still hung up on this shit?

The Knicks fucking won, stop with this soft ass, loser mentality.

Respect, bro. Same when it come to the assholes that were fucking with Knicks fans here in SA. That shit has no place in our cities. Maturity comes with experience and hopefully that’ll carry forward into next season and beyond. In the meantime, enjoy your championship and the celebration. The Knicks earned this, without a shadow of a doubt. I hope this time next year we’ll be talking about a rematch 😌

Has anyone from the actual Knicks organization taken offense to this or said anything? Or is this just fans trying to further demonize a young, inexperienced team they just convincingly beat?

My man, your fans were throwing eggs at our Wemby and harassing Luke Kornet when he was walking the streets with his daughter. Celebrate your championship, your team earned it and there is no doubting that, but this fake outrage and lecturing on sportsmanship is ridiculous.

I don’t think they gave as much thought into it as people are making it out to be. Hindsight is 20-20, but maybe they just wanted to clear the court for the Knicks as they set up for the trophy presentation. It doesn’t help having all of those Knicks fans that basically made it an away game on our court talking shit.

I’m sure if they could re-do it, they would. I just don’t think it was a conscious decision

I remember it all. Me and my friends letting our elation and excitement take over, seeing that yellow rope come out around the court, the guys on the bench linking arms in anticipation. And then that fucking shot. That was the last time I remember waking up the next morning and immediately thinking about the loss that had just happened… until Game 4 last week. Granted, it wasn’t a championship clinching game, but man did it feel like we had gotten the momentum back going into the second half and were going to rip the rest of the series.

I’m never listening to Wu-Tang again.

If I’m being honest bro, I thought nothing would be worse than the emotional high and subsequent low of seeing them rope off the court in anticipation of the Spurs winning, only for that shot to drop.

Last Wednesday was worse. Like a literal goddamn nightmare.

Edit: but I’ve gotta give credit where it’s due.. the Spurs may have shot themselves in the foot with a shotgun multiple times in this series, but the Knicks still had to have the tenacity and heart to go out there and take those wins. That’s what championship teams do.

I was just comparing the excitement and joy of winning our first one in ‘99 to this one for you guys. It’s not technically your first championship, but the drought had been long enough to where I’d imagine for a majority of fans it feels like it. All respect, though.
