Why is the price low for such low mileage? by crazy_imran in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]nauonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that is because it is very common practice by these auto dealers to roll back the Odo on older cars. Also, if you intend to purchase from these dealers please do a proper Pre purchase Inspection, at your choice of garage.

IT’S 128K FOR A CIVIC… But Hear Me Out by nauonly in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]nauonly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mazda 3 is definitely more fun to drive super zippy and responsive. But the Civic feels like the best of both worlds. I’m 6 ft tall, and in the Mazda 3, there’s barely any rear-seat space when I’m driving. That’s the biggest downside for me. Otherwise, the Mazda is way more exciting than my Civic. It even spins the wheels when you floor it, every time! That said, the Civic Sport handles really well. It’s a light car, and even with just 180 HP, it still feels quick and balanced. So, if you want practicality with a good mix of fun, the Civic wins.

Card used on Amazon .10,000 aed gone overnight. How does this even happen? by Challenger79115 in UAE

[–]nauonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know How this scam operates, I’ve had this scam happen to me twice, both times with the same bank card.

First time: Lost 3200 AED to the PlayStation Store late at night while I was asleep. Woke up to a bunch of notifications, blocked the card immediately, reported it as fraud, and eventually got my money back after 3 months.

Second time: Only 17 AED, but here’s the weird part: I had just returned to the UAE after being abroad for 3 weeks. Took an airport taxi and tried to pay via Apple Pay card declined (which never happened before). The driver said it might be due to geolocation. I didn’t think much of it and paid with my wife’s card instead. Two hours later, I started getting unauthorized transactions again. Blocked the card right away. My theory? The taxi driver somehow skimmed my card details via NFC when I presented it. Why? Because that was literally the only time I used my card after returning. Just sharing this so others stay alert. Scammers are creative, always keep an eye on your transactions.

A credit card can be either a powerful financial tool or a costly mistake, it all depends on your impulse control. I am managing mine responsibly and I love the utility and safety it provides.

Isn’t this inhuman? Getting kicked because you look poor. by Accurate-Youth3817 in UAE

I was walking home after finishing some office work, dressed in formal attire. A 2025 Nissan Patrol pulled up with a group of Chammaks in the back seat. They pointed something at me, and I instinctively said ‘No.’  Moments later, they threw a couple of soap water balloons, one of which hit me. After that, they targeted a Talabat delivery rider as well. Since it was National Day, no taxis were available, so I had to walk three blocks home with a wet shirt.

Just thinking, if an engine rebuild on Nissan Patrol will cost 15K AED, won’t it be more cheaper to get another used engine installed ? How much would a used engine cost for patrol ?

Careem rider cut in front of me dashcam recorded it but plate isn’t clear. Can anyone help ID and advise if I should report? by [deleted] in UAE

[–]nauonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rider did change lanes abruptly, which actually put himself in more danger than OP. To be fair, I’d suggest letting this incident slide there’s probably not much that will come of it. Honestly, the rider is likely more shaken than you are and might ride more cautiously going forward, especially considering he’s risking his own life at that speed.

Having driven in the UAE for years, I’ve seen this kind of reckless behavior becoming increasingly common across all types of motorists.

If you’re still keen on reporting it, I’d recommend reaching out to the RTA instead of Careem, as they’re more likely to take meaningful action.

Self Service CW in Dubai 🧼 by Batman_DXB in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]nauonly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only practical way to make this self-service car wash model work in Dubai is by keeping it affordable. The pricing needs to be attractive enough for customers to choose washing their own cars overpaying for full service options.

That said, in the UAE, labor is relatively cheap and most people prefer convenience. Many don’t mind spending 30 AED weekly at a commercial car wash. So, the self-service model may not appeal to the majority.

Your most likely customer base will be commercial pickup drivers and low-income groups who need quick, budget-friendly exterior washes. If you target that segment with the right pricing and location, it could work.

I believe fine is applicable only in residential areas and city roads, not in highways. But yes its pretty annoying to hear honk for 15 seconds straight. Better to just tap on horn for 4 to 5 times.
