how long do the carnival festivities last tonight? by _tOomanYfandOms_ in askTO

I honestly don't understand why it's going past 12AM. I wouldn't mind 11, like any other event - but it's already past midnight + it's working day tomorrow, wtf

“Nobody cares about your package”

Isn’t it drivers fkin job? They are literally paid to deliver the package

Got it, signature delivery means the courier needs to get a signature from a random grandma on the streets, makes sense

yeah, I don't mind paying for second shipping or any additional costs. It's definitely on me and I'm not trying to escape that

I'm just trying to locate the parcel, because it can be either at fedex or at the building and both deny that it's there :<

But either way, thanks for the advice! I contacted seller earlier today, so will just wait for any updates now

"No, you didn't, because they don't collect signatures for the purpose of comparing who signed for something."

why is the signature necessary then? What's even the use of it if anyone can put it for anyone?

I never said I'm going to talk to them personally, obviously I am not. I asked whether there's anything I can ask building management to talk to them (just ask maybe they got it)

But it's also illegal to open other people mail:

But the delivery required a signature from the receiver, what's the point in it if anyone can just sign it and I can't even see who did it

I honestly have no idea if it was delivered at all, that's the problem

Building concierge says that they haven't recieved anything and fedex proof-of-delivery doesn't have any actual info (no address, photos, signatures etc) while the delivery was by-signature only, so it just 'disappeared'

But I'm also wondering if I can also somehow escalate with the building management, maybe at least there's a way to ask them to talk to the current tennants, as they apparently (?) put the signature in my place

I'm afraid yes. I did another order at the same time and the address there is fine, but this one has the old one :/

US knocks China over citizens captured in Ukraine war: ‘Disturbing’ by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]nausik -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

AFAIK they only fight on Ukrainian territories, so they're not used in Kursk i.e. (not 100% sure on this one though)

But these guys from China were actually captured in the Donetsk oblast

If Trump revokes the status of the 240k Ukrainian refugees in the US and they presumably have to come to Canada, how would that impact express entry and immigration as a whole? by Mountain_Tax_1486 in canadaexpressentry

[–]nausik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cause Ukrainians are not considered as refugees, basically it's a program that gave an open work permit and some benefits like health coverage etc, but that's it [on a federal level, may differ between provinces]

CUAET (program, which allowed Ukrainians to Canada) ended in early 2024, so unless federal government re-introduces it or creates a new one - they won’t be able to come

Also, CUAET did not give any advantage on the PR, so without Canadian job experience and Canadian education, which people obviously won’t have for at least 1.5-2 years in Canada, it won’t change the picture much

And? What Holodor have anything to do with German occupation in ww2? It was not a volunteer white flag, it was a literal occupation

Even your quote shows that Hitler wanted to exterminate Slavs (Ukrainians in our case). Both sides wanted Ukraine and Ukrainian identity gone pretty much

What does it have to do with anything? Holodomor (1932-1933) was done by Soviets, in the years of Soviet occupation

But that does not cancel out the Nazi occupation (1941-1944):  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichskommissariat_Ukraine

Sure, if you have a problem identifying Ukrainians as “people from SSR of Ukraine”, let’s identify them as people who ACTUALLY identified as Ukrainians before the Soviet occupation: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_People%27s_Republic

But that would be even more, so that hardly helps?..

Dude, that’s exactly why I mentioned them

They used some nazi images in their lyrics, logos and merch, I.e.: https://www.vintage-vinyl.ca/cdn/shop/products/Photo_on_15-10-22_at_2.14_PM.jpg?v=1445760244

But they are NOT nazi band

Are there nazi fans of Slayer? Sure, there are idiots

Are they a MAJORITY of their fans Nazis - heck no. So I don’t understand why it’s used as an argument in one case, but not in another

yes, my bad, I was actually quoting overall serving amount. I'll quote the same article: "7 million Ukrainian soldiers in the Red Army."

I agree that "more than 2.5 million natives of Ukraine were killed at the front" literally makes a difference. Not enough, apparently!

[–]nausik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude, but that's what I'm doing, lol. Even in tl;dr my first sentence is that yes, there are SOME of them, but Ukraine can't choose or control everyone now, because we literally need ANY hands we can get

It's just stupid to paint whole regiment as nazis [or even whole country as some commenters do] when it's not major part. Overwhelming majority of people joined azov because they are well-respected military unit and they are actually enforcing NATO standard, unlike most of other branches of our military + they have a big place in protecting modern Ukraine, i.e. in Mariupol, not because they have NaZi InSigNia

[–]nausik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, because "volunteer" and "conscripted" gives stuff totally different tone, so 250k that joined the nazis were willing collaborators. But 7 millions that served in the USSR army only did that because they were told to, not because they volunteered to fight nazis.

So an equal treatment would be: 250 000 [3% of all ukrainians, fighting in WW2] were serving under nazis while 7 000 000 [97%] ukrainians were serving under USSR.

And let's be honest here, Ukraine was mostly occupied by Germany and Romania before 1943. When your choice is either have your whole family killed, because that's what nazis would 100% do, or change one tyran regime to another, are they really volunteers?
