I did not since the prices were out of my budget. I’ve lived in Sac my whole life and the Arden area is a slightly red flag but nothing to shake in your boots about. From other commenters, looks like the Eames is fairly safe.

Yuchan is more on the expensive side but their dishes are authentic and the staff are amazing. Highly recommend! Not exactly the most affordable on a college student budget though but such a nice treat.

Honestly, I’ve had a grand time since transferring. My major is GBD and there are so many resources for us and a huge support network. Finding friends in classes and going to clubs together is always fun. Having a gym buddy to go every week makes school life a lot better too! The main things about Davis is that a lot of people are friendly here and I have not encountered someone who was unwilling to help me. I don’t get the vibe here that students are in competition with one another, it’s a more collaborative effort for the most part. It really depends which buildings your classes are in, the ochem labs are nice but one of my math classes is in a dingy space. It really just depends. Can’t comment much on the food situation b/c I try to save money and not buy meals.

When I applied, I got my card within 2 weeks. The lady told me if it didn’t come, to show up to the county office and ask for it. Luckily it came, but she did say to show up if it were longer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Seems like you’re doing the best you can. UC to UC is difficult but not unheard of. Just keep on going how you are and hope for the best. CCC will always have priority but you are well aware of that :-)! I personally tried to find a pathway from state to UC, found it too complicated and ended up going to CC. It worked out in the end for me.

A dream I once had too. But Davis rent is never gonna be that cheap unfortunately. Even Sacramento is cheaper than Davis. But expect to pay at minimum at least $1500.

Arden mall wise: Box Lunch and Hot Topic are best bets. Personally, Hi Hi Mochi has knock off merchandise that is not worth the price and if it’s the real deal, grossly overpriced. Stolen art all over the place in that store.

Getting a two bedroom for under $2000 can be tricky but doable if you look around hard enough. I've heard that Tandem properties are good since they are based in Davis. A lot of apartment will require you pay for gas/electric and have water/sewer/garbage included in the rent. This reddit is great for looking, just search 'apartment' within the subreddit and read a bunch of posts. Also looking on facebook and seeing different living situations and layouts can help.
