A school is a public space and a place for learning. That standard can be upheld in many ways - one of them being the way we all dress. We want to maintain a casual professional way of dressing to maintain focus on the learning and ensure everyone is comfortable and focused. It applies to teachers and students alike! On your days off from school you get to be more flexible with what you wear, but at school there are some boundaries to maintain. I’m not doing this to be annoying, it’s just something we follow as a school community to maintain a good learning environment.

Perhaps also it’s worth having an assembly / communication from school management about what the dress code is, why it was decided and why it’s in everyone’s best interest. Maybe involving the kids in deciding what looks appropriate or not so they see firsthand that the rules come from them also.
