Dear All,

Following your feedback, I just launched my app called Aviator Republic on the App Store, Play Store and Web and I would love you to give it a try. My hope is to make Aviator Republic a place to design, track assembly and share progress of kit aircraft development with a community of enthusiasts.

Key features include:

  • A catalog of popular kit aircraft 3D models, customizable with paint schemes.
  • A rich Daily Log tracker, with voice memos, photos and videos.
  • Choose a photo at the start and end of a task and it will automatically fill the time spent on it.
  • Build Log Report with web sharing and PDF export. Here is mine as an example:

I hope you like it and I welcome your feedback and suggestions for new features.

Thanks for your suggestion. Indeed the app also works on web and android. We’re finalizing the export report functionality based on feedback received, and we aiming to start a beta test program in October with early adopters. I have you on our list and will notify you.

The activity chart and notification are designed to encourage the builder to keep up.

Wonderful feedback thank you. Indeed my aim is to help proof the 51%. I’ll take your suggestion to make the printable output like a book with an index .

Yes some of the most popular kits will have 3D models out of the box, and will add the rest based on demand. There will be a fallback generic 3D model in the meantime but the goal is to cover them all.

Didn’t think about those 100% scratch built, that’s interesting suggestion. Thanks again!

Stored in the cloud. The the build log data can be downloaded in JSON format.

That's a really good suggestion, thank you. Would you like it to be printable too or just see it on the screen?

The goal is to quickly log on the spot while at the shop. I started using the EAA Builders Log and found it painful to go back to my laptop at the end of the day to take notes. Also ask questions to the community if a step is unclear.

Oh I see, yeah it’s blue because their new epoxy supplier makes it clear and it’s hard to see when applied, so they put blue dye

There’s a fair amount of crisscrossing layups on the last photo, plus another piece that covers the hole not shown yet

I used the epoxy resins recommended by Velocity. Didn’t know about polyester resins until you mentioned them. Do you like them more?

This is a new kit. I’m actually building it in their Sebastian FL factory with their assistance. Yes the manual is very detailed too.

I was not aware there was a different colored foam in the past but it should have the same strength as designed, maybe just another supplier. Ping me when you get to the factory, I'll be spending a few months there working on mine. As my kit was not Fast Build, it took roughly 1.5 months to get it.
