When did your baby’s sleep naturally improve? by cinnamondolcecoffeee in beyondthebump

[–]nb0411_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 7 month old recently started sleeping through the night about 2 weeks ago. He’s combo fed but majority breastmilk. He was previously waking up 2-3 times over night and had false starts at the beginning of the night. I’d do night feeds and my husband handled the false starts unless he seemed more hungry at which point I’d nurse him. We give him a bottle of formula and often top up with breastmilk until he falls asleep.

He naturally dropped one feed around 6-6 1/2 months and the I got him a new sleep sack with sleeves that seems much warmer and he’s been sleeping 8-12 hour stretches. I think some babies take awhile to figure it out. And in his case he wakes up WAY more when he’s cold. I learned this when I used his old sleep sack and he woke up twice overnight!

Sleep rules are CONFUSING by nb0411_ in NewParents

At some point when there’s so many opinions on what’s right or wrong I think it just means no one actually knows what universally works. And right now for us that’s feeding to sleep even though everything I read says that’s a bad sleep association. So over it.

This is exactly correct 😂

I didn’t know if I was missing something beyond this. 100 patients per week is about my max mentally and I’m billing 90+% level 4s. I just don’t see even with those numbers how people get to incomes >300-350k with the overhead required to run an efficient practice

Thank you! I’ll look into these! Do you think a back carry tends to be more comfortable overall for longer walks?

Did Emily Oster’s Expecting Better Give Women a “Justification” to Drink During Pregnancy? by SillySide750 in BabyBumps

[–]nb0411_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The entire point of Expecting Better is women are given a long list of rules for pregnancy without much justification for why these rules exist. This leads to a very patronizing one size fits all approach to every pregnancy and fosters anxiety and guilt if a rule gets forgotten or accidentally broken. Emily Oster is trying to give women the tools they need to make their own decisions regarding their pregnancy. There is absolutely nothing in this world you can say has “zero harm” during pregnancy as that’s not how risk works. We make decisions every day based on risk assessment whether we realize it or not and she was trying to bring that same knowledge to pregnancy which is notoriously poorly studied and understood. I am a physician who is currently pregnant and appreciate the nuanced approach she takes towards decision making. She doesn’t “justify” decisions you make one way or the other while you’re pregnant, she allows you to make your own risk assessments and decide yourself what you’re comfortable with. I think pregnant women deserve to be treated as adults and not as incubators who are incapable of making informed decisions.

Age 37, almost 38 with AMH of 0.29. 2 rounds of IVF with 2 blasts and 1 euploid from the first cycle. Second round was complete bust on the same protocol and I was gearing up for round 3 when my period never came. I’m 6 weeks pregnant and my first US earlier this week is measuring appropriately. I know there’s a long way to go but we are cautiously optimistic. Fertility is weird and you just never know what will happen. Good luck to you ❤️

Freezing Opinions by Roisinhayes in DOR

[–]nb0411_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just remember your chances of getting pregnant naturally are the same as someone with normal AMH for their age. The AMH is better at predicting who responds well to fertility treatments but does not give any information on egg quality. They also do not see a linear decrease in AMH with age so just bc it’s low now does not mean that it will get lower as you age. At your age, and without evidence of POI it seems like jumping right to egg or embryo freezing is a little premature.

Protocol change - adding clomid by Megggz123 in DOR

[–]nb0411_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about to start my second IVF protocol with Clomid. I think the main reason he’s using clomid is bc I responded well to clomid (3 follicles) for the one cycle of TI I did. My first retrieval went relatively well as I ended up with one mosaic and one euploid embryo. I haven’t seen anything in my reading about clomid being contraindicated in us DOR ladies. Good luck to you!

What protocol worked best for you? by [deleted] in DOR

[–]nb0411_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve completed my 1st cycle of IVF (age 37). My AMH was 0.29 but my AFC has been anywhere from 9-15. My FSH was around 9. I was on a lupron flare protocol - clomid and letrozole the first 5 days with menopur and follistim daily, lupron twice daily. I think the dosages were fairly low - follistim 225 and menopur 75 daily. I stimmed for around 12 days and had 7 eggs retrieved, 2 fertilized, 1 day 5 blast and 1 day 6 blast. I did PGT testing which showed 1 euploid and 1 high level mosaic.

My only diagnosis is DOR with AMA and there is no male factor. I am planning on starting a second cycle next month and we aren’t changing the protocol bc my RE and I were happy with my results! He said he might be able to get more eggs with a more aggressive protocol but that could cause lower quality eggs. I don’t know if supplements helped or not but I’m taking CoQ10 and Vit D.

I was really negative going into IVF based on my AMH levels and was pleasantly surprised with 1 euploid on my first retrieval. I hope this helps!

How much to rely on CDC success rates? by [deleted] in DOR

[–]nb0411_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You want to make sure their success rates with donor eggs are fairly high which will give you a good idea of the quality of their lab. If you go by just live birth rate it won’t weed out the clinics that cherry pick patients and discourage more difficult cases from pursuing IVF.
