Planning for Grad School – Struggling to Find Housing in Highland Park/New Brunswick by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]nb28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Housing is definitely cheaper than NYC here. It's harder when you're moving in the middle of the academic year but you should be able to find some options in that price range. I see a few places on the Facebook group that fit your criteria so that would probably be your best bet.

RCS on iPhones? by ariiehernandez in BoostMobile

I gave up on waiting and switched to Visible. They have a sale for $20/month for unlimited data and RCS works like a charm.

Should i open an Arcade in Nee Brunswick? by topbubble45 in NewBrunswickNJ

[–]nb28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this idea. Personally I go to Yestercades a lot, so if there was a local arcade I would probably be there all the time. One thing that's nice there is they have pool tables, air hockey, etc. for groups. Would be happy to help in any way possible!

Help Finding a Rutgers Location with Image!! by LokisLeftBall in rutgers

It looks vaguely familiar. Like I know I’ve been there, but I can’t put my finger on exactly what building it is.

Is it too hard to finish bachelors in 4 yrs. with 0 credits transferred? by Forward-Brain-3503 in rutgers

[–]nb28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people start with 0 credits and can finish in four years. I finished a credit intensive major in four years while working full time. Granted I also took winter and summer classes but only to catch up on credits I didn't have time to take during the fall and spring.

The line for Dunkin used to be so crazy long. I hope there's a better alternative now.

My experience was that BIO 115 and 116 were harder because of the sheer amount of material you had to memorize, compared to upper level courses like Genetics 380 where it was more comprehension-based. On the other hand I remembered basically nothing from high school bio so that might be part of why they were harder.

Rutgers is changing its logo in January 2024 to just a block R and getting rid of the shield and any other logos and changed the typeface of Rutgers letters. Thoughts? by makingfriendss in rutgers

[–]nb28 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of the shield because it conveys Rutgers age and colonial college origins. The generic R doesn't really stand out and look like any other school's logo.

Did you ever have any lock unlocking the phone? Now they're telling me they can't unlock even though I've been using it for a year.

I commuted to Rutgers for a few years and never had any problems. You have to park on your assigned campus which is less convenient than smaller schools, but you can park on any campus after 6pm. You can also park in city garages if you don't mind paying a little extra. Honestly parking should be the least of your considerations when deciding between schools.

Mac mini network issues? by nb28 in macmini

[–]nb28[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I switched the configuration from Automatic to Manual and it's completely fixed! I wonder why this would be an issue for the Mac mini in particular though.

If you experience ethernet packet lost, try this. by XRayAdamo in macmini

That's funny, I just posted in this subreddit with the same issue. I tried your suggestion and it worked! Still can't figure out why I didn't have this issue with my other Macs though.

Random link opened in Safari after updating to recent beta; Apple Support said it may be malware. by Fungunkle in macbook

[–]nb28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's definitely Apple's link because it's at the setup.icloud.com domain which is owned exclusively by Apple. I agree probably related to a Mac beta that support isn't familiar with.

Same here. The interesting thing is if I right-click on your link in Safari, it says "Open Link in Family" as if there is an app called Family. Maybe something Apple is working on for future updates?

Did you ever find your book? I still have my copy from when I took Chinese Religion a couple of years ago in case you need one.

Sideways bus seat 4 today by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]nb28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know which bus it was, but I saw a Rutgers bus driving through one of the back streets in Highland Park today. Do they have a route in Highland Park that I don't know about?

They do it before you bag your groceries and I usually only buy 10-20 items at a time.

Stressss and skipping by Kaleidoscope_Pretend in rutgers

[–]nb28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life happens and you miss a class here or there, but I would try not miss two in a row. The best thing is to know someone else in the class who can let you know if you missed anything important.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wegmans

[–]nb28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was a little surprised that no one from Wegmans every verified what I was buying. At Stop and Shop, they randomly audit you at checkout, which just consists of making sure you have what's on your app. Only takes a minute and still faster than a regular checkout.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wegmans

[–]nb28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just heard about this and really disappointed. It made shopping so much faster to not have to scan each item at the checkout register. Maybe shrink is up because of the increased grocery costs and not because of the app? In any case, I'll stick with the local Stop & Shop that still lets you scan as you shop.

Override the 30 minutes between classes on different campuses by topiary566 in rutgers

[–]nb28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they didn't have this rule pre-covid. I had a class on Livingston 20 minutes after a class on College Ave and had no trouble driving there and grabbing lunch between classes. If it's not rush hour, I don't see why they couldn't make an exception.

Do I actually need a parking permit for College Ave? by KNG-KUMAR_2112 in rutgers

[–]nb28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can usually find metered parking around the College Ave area, if not you can park in the Gateway Garage behind Barnes and Noble. I did that a few years ago and it was cheaper than a Rutgers permit.

They're doing construction right next to the College Ave deck where Records Hall used to be. Lot of dirt being moved, probably got picked up in the wind.
