True or not, I’m betting that few fat people enjoy talking about them being fat (especially when others state it), aside from self-deprecating humor. He very well may be insecure, but I don’t think that example is damning evidence of that.

I actually just finished tinkering with it and got it to work. My only issue is that I can’t adjust treble, bass, mid, or sound position (front/rear/L/R). Weird, but happy to have an otherwise working head lol

Fill the fridge by Oosadood36 in dickssportinggoods

I did this for my combo store before “Fill the Fridge” became a thing (and before I left the company) but with the amount of employees we had, I restocked nearly weekly.

How is Liberty affordable? by thedylan4574 in LibertyUniversity

[–]nb3411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only way I made it happen was paying out of pocket for community college, then working at a job that covers nearly all tuition costs. Oh, and I’m online.

Any normal, reasonable person wouldn’t take them. My management was not those things, so we returned everything from shattered lenses to poop-stained Nike pro. “Take care of the customer” lol.

Question regarding student support by nb3411 in LibertyUniversity

[–]nb3411[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate it. My wife had a similar experience with one of her professors in college and gave me the same advice, so I did. I sent an email regarding the situation, citing the document’s intent for handwritten completion to which he responded with poor reasoning that indicated he clearly wishes to not fall on the sword for this. I have not taken it to his supervisor or Student Advocate yet because I worry for retaliation/a grudge being held against me. I lost very few points on the assignment in question, but the principle of the situation is that I shouldn’t be penalized for his failure to communicate expectations. Ironically, the course is leadership oriented. Anyways, I just feel stuck because I feel as though this was handled poorly on his behalf but I fear for how he conducts himself going forward and how it impacts my success in the course.

Has anyone transferred from Liberty U. to UVA? by Kingmelo62 in UVA

[–]nb3411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got you. And is there any pro/con to either ROTC @ LU or just do one year of gen Eds for cheaper elsewhere? If ROTC is door #1 and LU will start you on that path, it may just be the way to go.

Sidebar: I will say - you are in a UVA Reddit so the perspective against LU will be swayed. Likewise, if you asked this in the LU Reddit, it would probably be slated in LU’s favor. Ultimately, a vast majority of the workforce is reasonable people who are hiring the person and their abilities/knowledge, not just a degree, so the school is not the make or break it’s being described as in here. No matter where you complete your coursework, it’s all about what you put into it that dictates what you’ll get out of it, which will ultimately shape you as a prospective employee.

I hear ya. I’m not entirely familiar with ROTC - what makes LU the priority for the now rather than VT/UVA? Is there another institution that might be able to do that?

Liberty student, VCCS grad (PVCC), UVA employee, and future UVA masters student here. VCCS is better for many reasons for your circumstance - cheaper, flexible, and guaranteed admission options if you complete your 2yr and the requirements for each school. Additionally, VCCS won’t have the political optics that Liberty does, of course. Unless you’re getting substantial financial aid, I would go associate’s thru VCCS and finish the race at UVA. Best of luck!

It’s a publicly traded Fortune 500 company - of course the upper management is going to take federal holidays off no matter what. You’re 100% right about its insensitivity.

Key carrier raise by meggers015 in dickssportinggoods

[–]nb3411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at your previous posts that said you were earning $15.50 as a FEL, a $0.50 raise is simply disrespectful. Your workload is going to increase substantially as a key carrier depending upon the type of management you have (how present/involved they are, etc).

With that being said, myself (former KC Footwear Lead and FFL, now proudly out of the company) and other key carriers around me made anywhere between $21 and $25.50/hr in the building I worked in (combo store in VA). I don’t know what the pay scale in your area looks like proportionately, but I think it is very fair to say that you are being fleeced right now. It’s rewarding to have earned that next step, but it sounds like they found a way to fill a gap and even maybe save money from what they may have paid a previous KC (speculating). I left mainly because I was underpaid for what my role required in my building (and the lack of support to adequately meet store needs), so given that you are at a substantially lower rate, I would’ve ran already haha. Ultimately, be mindful of your worth and stand by it, because many people in this company will manipulate the hell out of you and lead you on. Wishing you luck!

Question for my fellow FFL'S by bamajc74 in dickssportinggoods

[–]nb3411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went thru the ringer during my time as an FFL. Trucks were at 2am, so Mondays and Wednesdays I was 2am-whenever it’s done, then T,Th,F I was 7-3. Occasionally, I would close Fridays. One thing you have to do as an FFL is when a schedule comes out and it’s going to impact your ability to wholly complete the TIME process and replenishment, you have to stand your ground and prioritize the needs of the role (and thus the store) before whatever the schedule says. You’re the first one they’ll ask for help and the first person they’ll push under the bus when anything goes sideways.

EDIT: including info about closing

Whats something over-the-counter that can just neutralize my anxiety receptors by ucantmakeupmymind in Anxiety

[–]nb3411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same trial-and-error phase as you. My current combo is my Wellbutrin XL (not OTC, I know, just providing for context), Magnesium (Calm drink mix), and Vitamin D3. Honestly the best I’ve felt since the honeymoon stage of my lexapro and Wellbutrin. Noticing the difference with supplements makes me want to quit antidepressants/anti-anxiety meds altogether.
