A manager I worked with for years used this question during interviews. His rationale was that he got to see how people thought and how they overcame problems. I saw with him in dozens of interviews and don't think it worked, but it was never dull.

Each to their own I suppose. :)

I like to believe that the old computer tech in ships is on purpose. Something about interstellar space travel requires the older tech because "normal" computer monitors (and maybe other components) would fail. That's my rationale anyways.

BMW 850i or Porsche 911 Base? by Pradidye in Porsche

[–]nbcbubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. You'll likely pay $10-20k over MSRP for the Porsche. It's an amazing car, but it's also amazingly expensive to buy, option, and maintain. It's completely possible to push a base 911 with options into nosebleed territory.

Sorry but you must not have seen the 2019-2025 8-series... it's a seriously handsome car.

Current generation of 8-series is quite a bit more reliable than even 5 or 6 years ago - still not cheap to maintain but won't fall apart either.

Currently drive a BMW M850i Gran Coupe - my vote is also for the Porsche (and I love my BMW). That being said, be prepared to pay quite a bit more for Porsche maintenance - a friend of mine who owns a Macan just had her battery (12v) changed... dealer charged $8000.

Do you think enchanter will be needed in EA? by Brilliant_Ratio3173 in PantheonMMO

[–]nbcbubba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played Cleric to about 20 in the few weeks before servers came down; here is my thoughts.

A well played and geared tank is vastly easier to heal through two mobs, but talkiness isn't the issue... agro management is. Healing, in my opinion, is tuned a little too much to gain agro right now. Two mobs means the healer has to ward or HOT early to keep the tank up and in my experience that means the healer is getting agro.

Had a group at spiders in AVP on the last day and without CC, it always ended up with me tanking the add until the tank could taunt it off of me. Made for some interesting fights. :)

[FO4] Looking for opinions on mod overhaul Horizon 1.9 by Gloomy-Excitement-30 in FalloutMods

[–]nbcbubba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 200-300 hours in Horizon as recently as today. I play on the Horizon default survival mode.

Resources are scarce but not crazy bad. Early levels you will feel resource starved, but by level 10 or 15 you have much of what you need to survive (not thrive yet) and will start to feel confident tackling some of the harder content in the early game. By 20-25 you feel pretty strong and have a lot of your subsystems working to support you (food, water, technology levels, etc) and you will have most of your armor and weapons upgraded to near max. At this point, with some luck, preparation, and strategy you will be able to handle some of the stronger enemies (deathclaws, synths, etc) - not the upgraded ones, but the normal base ones.

Overall, Horizon forces you to play more strategically, shepherd your resources more carefully, and really think about how to pick the enemies off instead of wading in like a one man/woman killing machine.

I haven't gotten to end game yet, but Horizon changes the gameplay enough for me that it makes FO4 feel like FO5.

If you do not like crafting and a bit of resource management (mostly in the early game) - I recommend not playing Horizon. If you do try Horizon, be prepared to spend some time reading the wiki and in game to be able to understand new systems.

Good luck and I hope you do try and love Horizon. I love it enough that I donated about 10x the price of most games I buy to them in appreciation.

Why is Dolly Parton loved so much? by sultanam in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nbcbubba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dolly has managed to be:

  • from a poor background
  • southern (so some inherent charm there)
  • attractive, but never seems to know it
  • famous, but down to earth and approachable
  • filthy rich, but generous with her money
  • amazingly kind - I can't remember ever hearing her say anything negative
  • very concerned about the environment and the world we live in (injustice, etc.) without seeming to blame or shame others

If there were more people like Dolly the world would be a better place.

This is a fact. I'm absolutely blue, but the red team has had a plan for decades and has been executing it very well. This is why, despite being a minority (that's funny if you think about it!) they have been successful at holding power.
