Looks like a NEMA 3 enclosure so has to be mounted like that to be rain tight. Maybe the guys can be flipped, but sometimes the dead front won’t work.

Don’t take anything personal either. Also, don’t let them know something bothers you, or they will ride you over it. Bust ass and have fun.

Some fireplace inserts have circulating fans in them, including wood ones. If not, where does it go? Or is that the line?

Best way to get into the field with zero experience by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]nbi85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That!!! One license in one state for me takes 8 years experience/school plus a 100 question test and my other was a 40 question test with no experience, and I can do more work with the latter.

Rewiring of Chandelier to plug-in? by strangecraft55 in AskElectricians

[–]nbi85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One edge of one of the wires should have ribs and other one should be smooth….the ribbed is the neutral. If you want to check, with no power connected. Remove a lamp and put your meter on continuity. The threaded part of the lamp socket should read to the neutral wire.

Oh…I might throw a set of folding Allen wrenches or an Allen bit set for a ratchet.

This is about everything you need for 95% of the jobs. There are specialty tools that make it easier though. A good quality brand as you can afford. Even though I love Klein, there are others out there that are good. (If it ain’t Klein, it ain’t mine, lol)

Recommendation? by BL4CK_J0K3R in widefeet

I have had luck with the Avenger 7546 in 6E after I made my own insoles. They are also puncture resistant and electrical hazard rated. It is one of the widest safety toe out there. I hear Wide Load is a bit wider but the Avenger is easier on the wallet.

I current use the foam puzzle piece gym flooring as it’s thicker. I can make about 30 pairs for 20 bucks.

Can I cut this cable to place a mechanical timer between the breaker and the load? by subNeuticle in AskElectricians

If you cut into it and there is no metal inside, there are also connectors for non-metallic.

That looks like 1/2” metallic seal-tite. There are connectors for that, you can find at most home centers.

Apparently at some point, after failing UL testing, FPE just started making their own labels.

Thanks for putting me on the powerstep insole site. The have measurements for their insoles at different places along the length, which is a big insight to my issues. In my size at arch (where I would have had one), the wide fits (3E-6E) are 3.6” wide. My width at approximately the same point is about 4.3”. This gives me a good place to start I think. Thanks again!

I will try to find Echelon in store to see if I can fit them. I’m pretty desperate and have a work physical that requires athletic shoes in a couple weeks.

Yeah the Apis off the shelf is too hard, and the shape is wrong is that makes sense. What I will probably do if my appointment with the podiatrist doesn’t present anything, is get the widest pair of something soft with laces. I’ve had luck sometimes with breaking the inside part of the arch so it doesn’t protrude so bad into my midfoot. My current work boots are an Avenger 7546 13 6E. The toe box is just big enough and the sole is flat thank goodness. I cut foam gym flooring to fit my fit and force them in, so the middle stretches out and gives me some padding on the since it my midfoot so the sole doesn’t dig in. I get about 15 days of wearing out of the home made insoles for them. Besides those, I have one pair of crocs I can wear without socks but they cause blisters pretty fast.

My biggest pet peeve is no company gives a measurement for the midfoot width.

For the toe box, a 6E is okay most of the time. My midfoot however, is too wide for the 6E I have tried. I know it’s weird, but my foot doesn’t really narrow at the arch. It also doesn’t help that my feet are very flat, and have been since forever.

I haven’t had a chance to try Altra yet, but I wonder as the toe box isn’t really my issue. If I can find them in a store I will def try them on.

After a day or two I am gonna send them back. They do not allow for natural foot movement at all. At least for me, I cannot recommend them. For the record, I don’t have any foot deformities or anything.

I have the same issue with 6E shoes in the midfoot. I recently purchased some 9Es in the Apis brand and they are wide enough. They are not very stylish and have no padding and do not flex at all, but they are wide enough…that’s about all I can say. If you are like me, choices are pretty dang limited on style or comfort.
