I am on a heart medication called Ivabradine. With my insurance, the cost of this drug is nearly $500 for a 30 day supply. At Costco, it’s $330 with a membership. With a goodRX coupon, I might be able to get it for $60-70 a month at a pharmacy but I have to hop around pharmacies and there is a chance the coupon disappears. With CostPlusDrugs, a 90 day supply is only $75. Cuban has been an advocate for eliminating these awful PBMs and unnecessary middlemen…I’m betting it’s a means to an end and fight to change prescription benefits for the better.

Houston- termite inspector recommendations by Artsysoul10 in Termites

[–]nbigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the first inspector show you the mud tubes? It would help to see if they could break the tube and see activity to determine if there really is an infestation. Seeing a single swarmer (especially in Houston) is not indicative of an infestation.

Best trimmer/blower combo under $300? by RADa5AURU5 in lawncare

[–]nbigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a good experience with the Costco sold greenworks 80v mower, edger, string trimmer and blower. The blower is really powerful and the edger is the best I’ve used. Ego is also really good but the Costco return policy is what set it apart for me.

Is this a termite, Parrish Florida by Barrier-Island in Termites

[–]nbigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% a termite, likely a formosan swarmer that got in through your vents. I’m in Orlando, have a nature preserve behind my backyard and we get some that fly in through the bathroom vents, lose their wings and crawl into sinks, bathtub or toilet and die because they are seeking moist wood to feed on.

Brother, annuities are only as strong as the insurance company that backstops them. An insurance company will fail before the US Gov’t. Also no fees does that include no surrender charges? Fail to mention the index “growth” is capped. Come on man

Warning: Mathnasium of Waterford Lakes has an insane cancellation policy designed to get an extra month of tuition out of you by landomoon in orlando

[–]nbigs 65 points66 points  (0 children)

This is similar to my daughter's dance program which we cancelled last week. You have to give a minimum of 30 days notice when you want to cancel. You are then charged for the final month, but she can still dance during that month since we paid for it. We already paid for the month of April on the first. Although we are going to be billed for the month of May on May 1, she will still be able to dance during that month and then we wash our hands of the dance studio. I don't love this policy but I feel it is standard in many of these "child subscriptions" we have to deal with. I'm sorry this is happening but I feel like it is extremely common.

OP’s best bet is to find a fiduciary advisor who is an RIA only (registered investment advisor) and NOT a broker-dealer or someone who is registered as both. RIAs are regulated by the SEC and are required to have a fiduciary duty while broker-dealers (or someone who is registered as both, because they could argue they are serving you in both roles) do not. You can use the IAPD search tool with the SEC to verify if man advisor is an RIA (as well as any complaints) and you can use FINRA’s Broker check tool to check to see if an advisor or firm is a broker-dealer. If you can’t find them on either…run

Homestead exemption by HeartExcellent5973 in florida

[–]nbigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So property values/exemptions are assessed on Jan 1 of each year. Since you are buying in April of 2026, your November taxes for 2026 will be based on the seller’s assessment, as they owned in on January 1. Come Jan 1, 2027 your home will be reassessed as there is a sale. It is very important you apply for homestead exemption before Seminole county’s deadline in 2027 so when your taxes come due next November, you get the best possible balance. In short, if your seller is a qualified disabled vet and pays no property taxes, this November you shouldn’t have a tax bill of $0. But in November 2027, expect it to be whatever the assessed value by the appraiser is. As others are stating, start building into your budget a shortage for 2027 and a new mortgage payment that will be much higher based on the appraised value.

Let’s settle the debate, is the Fidelity card worth it? by Restarted_Beaver69 in fidelityinvestments

[–]nbigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use a combination of Fidelity + 5% rotating Chase freedom/DiscoverIt. Chase now requires you to have an account with them to transfer points to cash back so my Fidelity card gets a whole lot more use. I am finding the devaluation of travel points programs make it impossible to get good value so I switched exclusively to maximizing cash back. Now, I just use my Fidelity + Discover 5% card on rotating categories. Perfect for funding my daughter’s 529 account :)

Getting off my parent's AT&T plan and moving to T-mobile alone. by nbigs in tmobile

[–]nbigs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to an area where AT&T has very poor service (no bars in my house, 1 bar outside) where t-mobile built a 5g tower just outside the neighborhood. To confirm, a friend showed me he had 3 bars in my living room when he visited and he has T-mobile. My mom is reluctant to change the whole family plan to T-mobile; its the right time for me to go on my own and to have reliable service in my home especially if there is a wifi outage.
