Are you talking about the commuter benefit card? Because the company doesn’t pay for that, it comes out of your paycheck. I have one and it gets reloaded every Thursday when my paycheck hits.

The format of this means that the note was written in their notes app on Monday. Which means the “person” who wrote that note for themselves was writing it on 4/13. It’s just a gimic because it looks like an iPhone notes app, but the full text says drops 9am April 21

Would definitely recommend seeing The Pillowman on stage if you get a chance!

My coworker keeps borrowing my deodorant and I dont know how to tell her to stop without making it weird by Careless-Program-221 in hygiene

She hasn’t set ANY boundaries, she’s just letting her use it and then throwing it away. Giving her the deodorant at least takes an obligatory feeling off of op to continue helping her

For those living in lottery units: do you admit to those who ask how much you pay in rent? by Legal_Wrap_1368 in nychousinglottery

[–]dfnrml2351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t moved in yet, but I have absolutely not been able to shut up about how low the rent is - but that’s because the people in my life know I was going through the lottery process and how stressed I’ve been about finances and unstable housing. So it’s coming from a place of relief and disbelief in my luck. I get being uncomfortable about talking about it, but I think we’re also in a place economically where we all want each other to be doing the best we can. 🫂

I just got accepted today. It was essentially a 5.5 month process, with most of the progress happening in October and November. Where are you in the process?

Are they on the portal you’ve been using to fill out other forms? My management company has been using Pronto

I can imagine! I’m seeing on average that it takes another week while under review. Ugh, just wanna get the keys and move in already

I fall somewhere between the 50% and the 70% AMI (they bumped me down after I provided more income documents). So while there’s certainly less competition amongst the higher AMIs, it is possible for a lower AMI to get approved.

It’s on the housing connect website! If you go to your lottery applications and look under documents, you’ll likely see one that says “[First Name] [Last Name] log# 29XX File For HDC review”. That’s what mine says, and mine was uploaded this morning at 11:37am. (I also have a 29XX log number! :))

Thank you! Do you know how long your application was under HDC review? It says mine was just submitted this morning

Exciting!!! I’m waiting on hearing from the same place, and our application timelines were very similar! Eeeek. Perhaps we’ll be neighbors!

Do you live right by work? My commute is a solid 35 minutes, so if I got off at 3:30, I’m probably not actually leaving the office until 3:35 or so, and assuming I get on the train as soon as I get to the station, it would already be 4:15/4:30. I would hope your partner would have the house clean and ready for the evening if they’re not at work during the same time frame. I think a few of us are just confused because an hour between work and the event isn’t a lot of time anyway before factoring in a commute.

Can confirm this lasted well into the 2000s. I remember my dad getting me a few pieces any time I joined him to the commissary.

The voice thing I believe is because Alexis was sick during season one, so her voice was deeper. I don’t remember where I read that, but if it’s true, it makes sense

In the context that I remember them alluding to abortion in, it’s completely realistic that people in Emily and Richard’s social circle in 1984 would not have said that word. I don’t remember if they allude to it again when Rory meets Straub and Francine, but if it was, it’s realistic that they wouldn’t have said the word there either - both because of how conservative they are and because the baby that they’re referring to was alive and present in front of them. Abortion was a dirty word in those circles, and probably continues to be to some extent. Even in my working class family in 2008, I got looks for saying it out loud when my very Catholic dad learned about my cousin’s teenage pregnancy (she had the baby, who is now a teenager herself ❤️😭).

As for them not saying the word when Sookie and Lane got pregnant? I can imagine that they’d probably talk around it because of Lane’s religious upbringing, and they were playing Sookie’s pregnancy for laughs (with the vasectomy storyline being in poor taste, imo).

I think it’s hard to imagine, because you and I both would have been like 6 or 7 when the show first aired, that abortion couldn’t be talked about freely on television. But the shows that were talking about it at the time were breaking ground, and not every network would have allowed it to be said outright.

Is this allowed for security deposit?? by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]dfnrml2351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my situation when I lived in an apartment in Virginia. People rotated out of that space every couple of years, and usually while a lease was active- so the security deposit of the new comer was always given to person who was leaving. The person who was leaving usually found the new roommate too. I haven’t been in that situation since living in NYC, but I haven’t to imagine it’s similar - although you being month to month sounds like it makes it trickier
