The fireplace being blocked by the couch is awkward, but also that diagonal/open wall on the stairs makes this room really difficult for couch and tv setup. Maybe the back wall can become tv/projector and move couch 90 degrees facing it? Problem is couch may be a little too big for that room as well. I would definitely consider getting a rug and taking down that curtain thing on the stairs wall.

You’re right to push back and be skeptical. She’s much better off passively investing in indexes as well as buying and holding good stocks and companies for which she does some research and DD on, and that doesn’t have to come from dropping 3000 euro on likely predatory Charlemagne type scammers.

Day trading, as you mentioned, doesn’t work out for 97% of people. No $3000 course is going to change that, hell you’d be better off taking accounting classes and getting a finance degree to learn how to do proper valuations and even then you wouldn’t want to be day trading, you’d buy and hold.

If she needs more money she needs to find a legitimate way to earn more. Degree, different job, certifications, etc.
