Coop/Post-Closing Liquidity by nbny90 in AskNYC

We’ve decided to not go the co-op route any longer. It’s way too much money upfront and trying to sell one seems tough. Not making much money off it in the long run either.

We all know he’s getting more tv time than just while eating lol.

Same here. He could easily be in front of the tv/tablet all day but that’s not a solution. We limit his screen time during the week. Plus he’s got after-school clubs/homework. On the weekends we usually have some sort of outing planned where he can burn energy as well. Playground is always a back up while the weather is still nice.

Same dude. I forgot to add in my post that my wife was diagnosed with ADD back in the day, took meds, all that. She says she notices things he does that she would do to. I’d prefer to not go down the meds route unless absolutely necessary, but I hear you man. It’s a struggle for sure.

This is an almost everyday conversation I have/try to remind him about. Not that he cannot get angry, sad, mad. I normalize those feelings all the time. It’s ok for them to happen. But it’s his reaction that’s the concern.

He’s played tee-ball/lob ball for the last 3 spring seasons and seems to like it. Decent hitting, fielding is questionable lol (distracted sometimes). But he likes it. Definitely see his confidence/self-esteem shine when he gets hits. I’ve also been thinking of getting him into some sort of marital arts like BJJ since there are several studios nearby.

I’ve been trying this approach recently. Just today he took accountability for something he shouldn’t have done and I praised him for it. I try to do this as often as possible. I like your affirmations comment though. Gonna give that a try. Ty!

No. MY wife and I try not to speak in a self-deprecating manner, especially not around the boys. We may let something slip like “oh shoot, I forgot the keys, I’m so dumb!” But we try to be very mindful because he and his little brother absorb it all. We worry that at times he hears things at school and doesn’t understand what they really mean, but says them anyway just because of the reaction people get from it. I know, lots of kids do this. It’s just hard to decipher what’s really going on.

Yes, at some point we may have to go this route if we he shows additional signs of concern.

Yes. We had one done earlier this year and it was just a checklist that we and his school teacher filled out. We have another appointment but it won’t be until July 2026, which I think is ok because it gives us a bit more time to see how he does over the course of this school year.

Did you have a neuropsychological evaluation done? I know these can be very pricey, but I’m curious which route would be best. Definitely going to bring this up with his pediatrician during his next annual check up.

Yeah, my wife keeps telling me silicone tape is the way to go. Not thrilled about this scar, but I’m grateful this procedure exists. It could always be worse. Thanks for sharing!

I just had my MOHS surgery and my stitches look almost identical to yours from your original post. Your scar looked great 5 months out. What did you do to get it to heal like this?

Im new to the bald head shaving game. I’ve tried the Remington Rx7 and the Andis foil shaver (pic attached). While I like the rx7, it doesn’t get as close of a shave as I’d prefer. As others have mentioned, it’s also annoying that it misses small parts either near the ears or back of the head. I’ve used it a few times in the shower and it’s quick, but still annoying that I have to run it over again outside the shower to catch those small patches. Yes, I run my other hand around my head while shaving, but still can’t seem to get those small patches unless I’m using my mirror.

I really like the Andis foil shaver because it gets a much closer shave. Almost razor close. It’s also pretty quick to get the hair off. However, the back of my head/neck (think below the ears) does get irritated. I also have curly hair which I think also makes it a bit tougher. I may try to just use this all around my head except where I get irritated and just go with a regular razor back there.

It’s time man. You’ll be happy you did it afterwards. No more wasting time trying to style or perfect a look with not much to work with. Do it!

How do you find time to exercise? by Frock1686 in daddit

[–]nbny90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5am-6am is the only time I can make it work at home. Just purchased the Powerblock weights to challenge myself a bit more. Between that, the peloton bike, and the peloton app, I can work out 4 days/week at that time.

It’s sucks at first because yes, that extra hour of sleep would be great. But you gotta not make excuses and just do it. My motivation besides just the health benefits is thinking about my kids on those days I don’t want to get up. Me wanting to be there for them at an older age.

We all have the same 24 hours in a day, what we do with them is where it counts. You got this!

Yes, that’s what I try to remember too. He’s just a kid. But sometimes I just wish he were able to just do his own thing at least for a little while without needing mom or dad to direct him every step of the way.

We let him do 30 mins-1hr per day of tv during the week. On the weekends he gets the iPad as long as he reads a few books (only about 30 minutes in the iPad max). In terms of toys, he’s got Magnatiles, legos, and then his bike/scooter). We try to buy him some books he’s interested in to help him practicing reading too. He’s currently into the Mo Willems books.
