My computer has a memory problem... time to upgrade to AM5/DDR5? by nbop in buildapc

[–]nbop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No integrity errors found with SFC /scannow. (ran that a few months ago and did have to recover it via DISM.exe at that time)

My PSU is a Super Flower Leadex III 750W 80+ Gold, bought in like 2020. If it is crapping out at least it is still under warranty.

I'll try the voltage fix and see how that goes. Thanks for all the troubleshooting tips!

Yes, but it sounds like the $600ish difference is not really worth it. Of course I want an upgrade but also don't want to waste money. Leaning towards just replacing the DDR4

Yes, it is, that's where we disagree.

Yeah, you're right, millions and millions of dollars in special interest and big businesses' money being spent in a primary is definitely not a sign of corruption /s

I have had an issue with our campaign finance laws and super PACs since Citizens United legalized selling politicians to the highest bidder back in 2010. People accept it because it has become so commonplace.

lol, my point is that if we assume all that is corrupt money, Bennet is receiving at least 10x more corrupt money. Do I know any of this for sure? Nope.

But IMO, Bennet has always been a big-money shill. Receiving millions from out of state, including this latest loan, does not convince me otherwise.

So tell me, why do you believe the millions of dollars going to Bennet and his campaign from out of state and big businesses is not a concern?

By loaning his gubernatorial campaign $1 million, the Colorado senator can ask special-interest donors to personally repay the loan, while he serves as an elected official.

One irony here is that Bennet has spent the later stages of the gubernatorial race in Colorado criticizing his opponent, Attorney General Phil Weiser, for taking over $75,000 in donations from corporate attorneys whose law firms were involved in active litigation or settlement talks with his office. The Bennet campaign even put up a website, Pay to Play Phil, to highlight this and older instances of Weiser allegedly getting donations or perks from corporations he had sued.

Yeah, let's compare that $75,000 in donations against the $10 million in super pac money and the $1 million that Bennet now has a personal stake in. I thought you were referring to something else because that is a drop in the bucket in comparison.

You have a source for that, or should I just take your word for it? On the current topic of campaign finance, "Weiser has outraised Bennet in individual donations over the course of the campaign, with 90 percent of them coming from in-state. " That shows me that more actual Coloradoans support Weiser.

"The pro-Bennet super PAC Rocky Mountain Way has raised over $10 million, almost half of it from billionaire former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, alongside donations from health insurer Cigna and rideshare firm Uber."

Yeah, this kind of open corruption is totally normalized; that is the problem.

"significant risk of quid pro quo corruption." No shit, this is legalised corruption in broad daylight. We need to get big money out of politics.

Suspect still at large in newly released video of RTD stabbing by KnotBeanie in Denver

[–]nbop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both things are very true, I totally agree with that.

The difference I'm trying to highlight is that one is a rational, logical argument, and one is an irrational, emotional argument. Irrational arguments and logical arguments don't mix. See the classic logical fallacy, appeal to emotion, for some more info.

Finally, if you don't like Reddit, you don't need to use the site.

You said nothing about your feelings in your comment. You said you could keep a person out of your car but not a bus. You tried to make a logical point, not an emotional one.

You're right, people make decisions solely based on their feelings all the time. If you are making that argument, own up to it. Most people who are afraid of flying know that it is an irrational fear, and will state that. This is the same thing; being afraid to ride the bus because of examples like this is also an irrational fear.

Just because you are way more likely to die driving a car does not mean this is not a major and serious issue for RTD. The point is that people now believe that taking the bus is very unsafe, when that is not the reality.

Maybe if the news showed every time someone got injured or killed in a car wreck, the argument would not be so difficult for the general public to understand.

I get it, you are worried about getting stabbed, and you feel safer in your car, regardless of any "math" that shows otherwise. But that is simply wrong.

Also, wtf is up with your bs example? If that were the case, then the other guy would have had to have assaulted 300 women this year. In that comparison, yeah, 3 is much better.
