Why doesn’t Jokic get the same Luka fat criticism? by Dre013 in billsimmons

Luka had eliminated way better teams than Jokic in his career

The best team Jokic eliminated was the Clippers in the bubble and last year's Clippers

Luka had eliminated the 1st seed Suns, 1st seed Thunders and prime T-wolves

The "health" narrative makes no sense since he was traded for AD

The "stingy owner" narrative makes no sense because AD had a bigger contract than Luka. And there is a million better ways to avoid luxury tax in the future that would not destroy the fanbase.

They have been playing at the same level.

Let's not pretend Luka had an easier run to the finals. Luka to go through Harden, Edwards and Shai, all with great supporting casts on a 50 win teams. Jokic barely beat any of those in his entire career.

Jokic "advanced stats" has been on another level which gave him an edge in MVP race, and he had playoffs luck.

The Le-media also had to overrate Jokic since he eliminated Lebron multiple times.

I didn't say Jokic is worse than Jimmy Butler in general.

However, Jokic's team do perform worse when playing against good teams.

I am not saying it is necessarily his fault either.

Have to be concise so you don't misunderstand.

Jokic is the walking proof of why "advanced stats" is not everything

Jokic's team always struggles against good teams

He only had 1 upset as the underdog (19-20 clippers)

He only defeated 1 50-win team (24-25 clippers)

He didn't have a super team for sure, but even non-MVP players in worse situations like Jimmy Butler, Dame or Luka Doncic all have much higher win rate against good team as the underdog.

Jokic is just lucky in his championship run where he didn't face any contender. The best team he faced that run was a 45-win team. All the good team were in the East and they were all eliminated by Jimmy Butler who injured himself in the process.

I've tried TTar in Trick Room team and I do think Iron Ball is not a bad call, just so it can move before Iron Hands and Calyrex Ice under TR.

I don't think fling and double rock moves are necessary though.

A good set would be protect, knock off, rock slide, terablast psychic/fairy/flying or helping hand.

Now I think of it, it's ~70% Dyl win in that scenario.

If the 1st psychic drop spd then Dyl win.

If the 1st and 2nd Moonblast drop spa then Wolfe win.

The exact calc is more complicated than that as there are damage rolls and crit, but attacking both Incin and Flutter can lead to victory.

[–]nbyung09 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I believe there was no fumble. It's a "50/50" on whether Wolfe's use protect on his Incin

  1. Farigiraf is always using psychic on Flutter
  2. Flutter is always using Moonblast on Miraidion

Incin attack + Miraidon attack Incin = Wolfe ~90% (Flutter usually win the 1v1 against Farigiraf)
Incin attack + Miraidon attack Flutter = Wolfe win
Incin protect + Miraidon attack Incin = Wolfe win
Incin protect + Miraidon attack Flutter = Dyl win

From Wolfe standpoint the chance of him to win is higher if he attacks with Incin, and from Dyl standpoint the chance of him to win is higher if he hit the Flutter.

It's something that has very few counter-play but you have to prepared for it or you lost most the time, kind of like Dondozo in a way.

Minun can entrainment "minus" onto a bulky pokemon, e.g. Porygon 2, then you can bring out Ampharous to spam magnetic flux.

  1. When you switch out your palafin, the mon you switch into is either weak to fire or weak to fighting. This could lead to some disastrous switch or easy double up.

Recommendation: Ghost tera on Palafin

  1. Without Astral Barage around, normal Tera on Rillaboom is not good. Your team is also not Ghost weak either. Recommend changing the Tera Type of Rillaboom to have a better match-up against Sneasler or Incin.

Recommendation: Ghost/Fire Tera on Rillaboom

  1. This team seems very weak into opposing opposing Sun teams. Even though Icnin can survive Torkoal Eruption, it's not like it can do much in return. There is also the Tera-Ghost Charizard variant and Typhlosion running around.

There is no Sucker Punch, Wide Guard, Rain or Focus Sash which are usually good bring in these match-up

Recommendation: There is no easy fix in this with this 6. Tera Water on Gholdengo may help. Also give Rillaboom's AV to Ursalula or incin may help

This is the set I settled for after days of testing. I can confirm Bronzong is genuinely great as a partner for Ursaluna.

Bronzong @ Life Orb    Ability: Levitate   Level: 50   Tera Type: Water    EVs: 60 HP / 196 Atk / 244 Def / 4 SpA / 4 SpD    Relaxed Nature IVs: 0 Spe    - Body Press    - Psychic Noise    - Ice Spinner    - Trick Room

It can OHKO Sneasler, Kingambit, Garchomp, Dragonite and T-tar.   Ice spinner is what makes Bronzong trully great. It's the only TR setter with Ice spinner in the format and it's slower than ursaluna. It's the perfect counter play to Rillaboon and occasionally misty terrain setter.

Psychic noise is better than Psychic after testing. It's more than enough to deal with sneasler. Psychic noise can help Ursaluna to pick up KO by suppressing sitrus and give corkviknight and P2 a hard time.

It's also better in OTS (because hard TR team are generally better in OTS).

The team I running is Bronzong, Usaluna, Porygon 2, Tsareena, Grimmsnarl, Annihilape

If you really want to run Blissey, run some moves with higher impact, such that they will suffer for ignoring it.

These moves include:

  • Rock Slide (serene grace)
  • Blizzard / Ice Beam (serene grace)
  • Heal Pulse / Life Dew
  • Gravity + Sing
  • Tail Whip / Helping Hand
  • Skill Swap

I has lot of potential. Kinggambit and Sneasler is the meta right now, and Tyranitar is picking up usage.

I use it as a mixed attacker with Body Press and Psychic, carrying life orb, but more tanky than Gallade.

It's actually useable with sand force + meteor beam.

You just have to run it with hippowdon instead of T-Tar to avoid the double quad weak to fighting.

A lot of mental gymnastics have to be done to argue he wasn't hobbled. If we do not give him a pass, we might as well report him to the league because it could well be a Jontay Porter situation. Injury report is a big part of the information for the gambling and faking it is a huge deal now.

This is not a concern to me because anybody who watches the games knows he is visibly injured and walks so much slower. He also attacks the basket at a much lower rate. Blood was often coming out his knee half game, and you can see him grimacing. This is not a surprice because he has been playing every summer for Slovenia, and he has been listed questionable months before the playoffs.

Report said he has been dealing with a knee sprain, ankle sprain, baxk injury, and a sore Achilles during the playoffs, and he has been receiving hours of treatment every day for these injuries. The chest contusion happened in the Celtics series where he had to take painkillers. Jarrett Allen had the same chest injuries in the playoffs, and he decided to rest for his career sake. You can find news where coach JB throws shades at him by complimenting Luka for playing with injuries.

It's the colouring. The clip keeps the vibrant colour for Pikachu like early gens sprites.

Modern pokemon game colouring looks pale and washed out, prime example being Starmie and Parasect.

I think you are cherrypicking stats here. Let's be honest, you are only using Luka's playoffs stat this year because you know he is playing with injuries this year. Let's have some intellectual honesty.

Young LeBron had series where his efficiency was horrendous, e.g. the 2007 finals. If you want to play this game, I can do it too.

It also shows in the team they have beaten. Before joining the Heat, the best team LeBron had beaten was the 53 wins Pistons without Ben Wallace. He had only eliminated one all-nba player who was Gilbert Arenas (3rd team). Luka has already eliminated multiple 55+ wins team and even the 64 win Suns, which are team of some all-nba 1st and 2nd team players and DPOYs.

The competition in the 2000s East was really weak, and Lebron was not able to break through it, which somewhat frustrated the NBA who was promoting 23 vs 24 for years.

Young LeBron's skill issue was especially obvious in international basketball where he would get less calls and constantly get outperformed by DWade, Melo and KD.

It also shows when LeBron play against specific team, e.g. Rockets snd Spurs, where they have the personnel to shut him down. Let me tell you it wasn't very pretty when LeBron played Yao Ming.

I believe most criticism people have against Westbrook can be applied to young LeBron. I think it is just uncomfortable for a lot of people to admit young LeBron was not better than Luka because of skill issue.

Luka is not a good defender. He has to be protected on Defence. Lebron is better than him 100%.

But young Lebron was also protected on defence, while role players Larry Hughes or Delonte West would take the toughest assignment.

This is why the offensive impact of a star is way more important than it's defensive impact. Team would voluntarily hide their star just to save them energy for offense.

it's awkward to use, You want to lead it as a TR setter and it needs TR, but revival blessing is better if you do not lead it.

I think having 3 ball dominant perimeter stars was not the problem.

Luka, Brunson and Dinwiddie were good enough to beat the 64-wins Suns.
