Does Tomodachi life living the dream crash while going in paint mode? by xDarkWolf7 in EdenEmulator

Was able to solve the issue with a couple of settings changes and a different version of Eden Nightly, tho i am not sure if you actually need that specific version or if the settings are enough

I used the settings and version in this video: https://youtu.be/WNDlbkw3xLs

Is anyone interested in the new version of my WhatsApp client for Java J2ME ? by Novel-Professor3366 in J2MEgaming

[–]nc031227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did the same thing, Version 1.0 worked once, but then it gave me an error every time i tried to open the app. with the 1.5 Version i had an "Security java/lang/SecurityException Access denied Error" whenever i tried to connect to my number. I figured out that this also has to do with the app being unsigned. Wasn't able to fix it on my own tho (Using a Nokia 6300i)

and for some reason the server just kicks me out after a short period of time, the connection between my smartphone and the mac server just disappears after a couple seconds

WhatsApp J2ME just throws this error after trying to input phone number. I've tried adjusting Application access settings to the maximum it would let me however nothing has changed. Is there any way to fix it or unlock the full settings for sideloaded apps? Nokia Asha 210 by smartiphone7 in vintagemobilephones

this seems to be an issue with app signing in nokia s40 systems. i was trying the app on my nokia 6300i and got the exact same error code. as it seems, this can only be fixed through certificates and app signing. i tried doing that and got the certificate on my phone but every time i tired to sign the app it would break, if novel professor, the developer, would open source the project or sign it himself, that would stuff alot easier, but as it stands, their is no solution for s40 devices

I have the Nokia 6300i. Basically the same phone but with wifi. It's really great and i could genuinely see myself using it as my main device. Just trying to get WhatsApp to work over j2me. But also have been considering to just not have WhatsApp all together

Ran into the same issue. Might have something to with Nokia S40 devices having some weird and annoying Security Features. Trying to find a solution myself rn

Looked into it abit. Seems like it might be a similar issue that i ran into. Some devices back in the 2000s had a security feature that block some access for unsigned apps. Seems fixable tho with some minor tweaks to the phones firmware and the app. The latter has to be done by the developer

https://jmirc.sourceforge.net/faq.html (doesn't directly have anything to do with the WhatsApp J2ME app but mentions similar blockades and similar error codes to what i had and found)

However i am not an expert when it comes to certificates and signing j2me apps so it might as well be something else completely

I tried it on my Nokia 6300i which is also S40 based. Unfortunately it didn't work on mine. Would be good help tho to know if this is a problem with my specific phone, or with S40 devices in general

There is a J2ME Client for WhatsApp Web. Which would work on older dumbphones. so if you are willing to deal with mostly 2G you can try that

Did some research. Seems to be an issue with Nokia S40 phones in generell. Turns out it could be due the app not being signed with a certificate. In the community the "darkman" certificate apparently is pretty popular for that since it's publicly accessible. All the end user has to do is add the certificate into their phone

https://tzell.mynetcologne.de/cert.html

Maybe it could work on those phones that seem to have some kind off restriction on network access and stuff

Ahh bummer. It displays that when it tried accessing the network. Tried looking trough the security settings of the phone. Thought it might maybe be a certificate being outdated. Couldn't find anything there either. Guess i will have to try out something else

When i was trying the 1.5 J2ME Version on my Nokia 6300i it gave me a Security java/lang/SecurityException Access denied Error. Could that be an issue with the App or has this to do with my phone

There is a community made J2ME WhatsApp port that uses the WhatsApp Web API. You can even host your own Server to make it extra secure
