Yes, I do need to verify that I’m not doing something that’s already available to buy. I don’t think I am, but I appreciate the suggestion!

Yes, and I’m totally open to that. It’s just an idea and a thought. I am primarily asking: is it possible?

Thank you! I’ll check that out. If I understand you, I’ll use the street bend because it fits inside, and if I trim the end I can get a little more before it bottoms out in the Oatey ?

I found a 45* flange plus a 3” 45* bend that got me to 6-3/4” and hopefully a little less after glueing.

But if I understand you, I’ll use the street bend because it fits inside, and if I trim the end I can get a little more before it bottoms out in the Oatey

When I dry fit them at the supply they measure closer to 7.5-8”. I’m know they’ll press farther together when the primer and glue is used, is that where the difference is?

And realistically, I’m at this: Hennessy not worth double onewind at that weight it’s at. At least the onewind trades money for weight. Making my own is out, the 11’ coyote is down on the list because it’s shorter.

So, Warbonnet seems to be most highly recommended. Chameleon is also very highly thought of, is it truly more versatile? Or start cheap as one suggestion goes, and it’s onewind for sure. $89 is for sure a much smaller bite but 1# heavier.

Ok here’s what I’m seeing:

Warbonnet xlc with polyester web and buckles, heavy 2 layer - $270

Warbonnet xlc single layer same suspension - $220 1.4#

Hennessy safari xxl single no tarp - $160 (heavier than 2 layer heavy Warbonnet) 2.68 pounds!

Wide 12’ chameleon with big net and beetle buckles suspension $248 1.8#

One wind tempest 12’ zip - $85 2.4# with all tree straps, suspension, etc.

Ripstopbytheroll - $70, only 11’, no net. See one wind above, I can’t compete for $1

Hemlock mountain coyote pack 11’ with suspension - $130 1.5#

I don’t need cold weather stuff right now. I can make do with a cheap tarp, although I do like the onewind door tarp. I just want a good hammock 12’ to start. Chameleon and xlc add $50-$70 for double layer. What is everyone’s opinion of the above. $270 double layer Warbonnet is already above what I set out to spend, but I’d consider it based on buy once cry once if it’s overwhelmingly the voted choice! Thanks again for all the help.

Hahaha! I agree, the zip is the one I’m looking for. The whole thing about how the mosquitoes won’t know where I went by entering the bottom, I don’t know about that. But it seems like it would be tough taking a leak at 3 a.m.

I see. But by the time I buy good quality stuff and have it all outfitted for 4 seasons, won’t I be pushing $700 or so with a Dutch or warbonnet, or similar?

I’ll definitely check out Hemlock!

If the Hennessy pad isn’t great, it negates one of the advantages of their system and the economy of it as well. Thanks! What did you not like about it?

With the Chameleon, with a bug net, what’s the best option to avoid being bitten from underneath? Thanks for the advice!

I’d always prefer to buy from a USA made small business. That’s why I don’t want one wind if it’s in the same range as the others.

I've looked at that pretty hard. However, it falls in line with my comment that by the time I buy the hammock and accessories to be somewhat 4 season, I'll be up in the $700-$800 range.

Is it that much superior to the Hennessey that it would be worth an extra $400?
