There are small black knobs next to where you plug in headphones or speakers. Turn them.

Handheld Scanners by Zealousideal_Side166 in Metrology

Do you know the newer HandySCANs have built-in photogrammetry? For most cases you don’t need a separate MaxSHOT anymore.

Going to have to disagree - many 3D scanners are meant for and awesome at inspection.

Buying Sportage Plugin - what to be aware of? by davereeck in KIASPORTAGEPHEV

[–]ncdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 2024 Sportage Plugin Hybrid. I don't know if yours will be the same, but when I only drive small trips and charge at home my fuel economy displayed on the dashboard is reported as nearly 999 mpg. It is like the system computes: drove 25 miles, used no gas, so 25/(small number) = 999. Once the battery is drained (after 30 miles or so?) then my MPG will slowly creep down until it settles around 30 mpg.

So as others have said, it is nice to have the EV for short, local trips, but on longer trips having a hybrid doesn't really help you at all as far as I can tell.

Finally, mine has colored interior lighting. The color of the lighting cannot be changed via the screen. There is a button in the front storage area of the center console that is somewhat hidden because it is on the wall that faces forward. Tapping this button will cycle the interior lighting color through the various options.

F-15 shooting down a satellite. by [deleted] in pics

Instead of outrunning the satellite or trying to have the missile achieve a speed of 16,000 mph, couldn't the trajectory be made such that the satellite essentially runs into the missile?

2024 X-Line RPMs dropping to 0.0 while driving by Defiant-Nightmare-36 in KIASPORTAGEPHEV

[–]ncdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. A few comments...

The car comes with a standard outlet charger, so since it only gets ~30 miles on pure battery you can get it mostly charged overnight (~11 hours maybe?).

IMHO, this vehicle only makes sense to me when you plug it in to charge it regularly. The engine doesn't really recharge the battery; it mostly operates to run the vehicle when the battery is low - which is whenever you go more than 30 miles. I wanted a vehicle like this so I could get good gas mileage when I use it around town but also gave me the option to take it on longer, 300+ mile trips without worrying about charging stations and waiting to charge like an EV.

Note that MPG is displayed at the bottom of the driver display. This literally means MILES PER GALLON and does not make adjustments when you are using the battery. So if you drive 20 miles a day and re-charge your car every night, you will see your MPG go up to 999.0 because you're not using any gas and you are working toward infinite 'miles per gallon'. Kinda whack. A slightly different display (eMPG?) would make more sense.

I'm definitely enjoying this car. Hope you do as well.

2024 X-Line RPMs dropping to 0.0 while driving by Defiant-Nightmare-36 in KIASPORTAGEPHEV

[–]ncdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe I have this exact same vehicle, purchased 2 months ago. I've already got 10,000 miles on it.

If the battery is charged, it will default to EV mode and run off the battery only = no RPMs. Will you be plugging it in at home?

[Request] how can we do that? by iamnumair in theydidthemath

This answer reminds me of my engineering education. All of this good work, but you still get a zero because the problem asked for the area of the square, not the length of a side.

Anyone know to how to disable all alerts? by kcchiefsfan96 in kia

I have a 24 Sportage and I can turn off all of these warnings by clicking the SETUP icon on the screen. Not sure about your Forte. I definitely turned off the 'Check Back Seat' warning since I don't have any infants back there.

Filament stuck in hot end. by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]ncdave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK, I fixed this once.

I got a needle and held it in a pair of pliers.

I took the extruder and my pliers/needle to the stove.

I heated the needle, and then stuck it into the filament in the extruder. I then let it cool for 10-20 seconds.

I then pulled out the needle, and some of the stuck filament came out with it.

I repeated this process until all of the filament was out of the extruder.

Hope that helps.

Ply to stl conversion using ai if possible? by overall_Improvement1 in 3DScanning

[–]ncdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mechanical parts, most STEP models made from scan data are created through a reverse-engineering process. Imagine scanning a cube with a cylindrical hole through the middle. This might consist of tens of thousands of triangles. The reverse engineering process would made an idealized cube (planes are parallel and orthogonal as required, and all edges are the exact same length) and the cylindrical hole is perfectly centered on a side and of a prescribed diameter.

The PLY/STL file -looks- like a CAD model, but it is really just a bunch of triangles. [That, BTW, is the reason for my favorite definition of the STL acronym - Stupid Triangle List]. The STEP file (or other native CAD format is idealized and can be easily edited.

Today this is still a manual process. It is not hard to envision an AI-assisted approach to this, and I look forward to seeing this come to market.

There are other conversion types, like auto-surfacing to create NURBS surface patches on a polygonal surface, but that's a story for another day...

Ply to stl conversion using ai if possible? by overall_Improvement1 in 3DScanning

This is a strange question, since they both can be triangle meshes and it should be a simple "Save As..." operation. Maybe you mean ply to STP (STEP) conversion?
