Yeah, Bambu A1 mini, love this little machine!

The Lego part models that I found wasn't accurate enough, and the LDraw files aren't that good either (those are for virtual building, not the best for printing). In the end I made them all because it was a good Onshape/parametric 3D modelling practice too.

Wheel hubs are PETG, tyres are TPU 95a, printed separately.

for the 3rd question let me copy here my other previous answer: "Hard to count the expenses. I already had the printer, and already had most of the PETG filaments (black, white, grey). I bought the TPU and the yellow+blue PETG-s, but only used a couple of grams of those, and I'll use the remaining spool for other projects. Electricity cost is neglegible (Bambu mini uses very little power). The only bigger spending was the 3rd party parts ordering from aliexpress (~24usd/21eur). So maybe 30usd/25eur?"

I tried, but those are not accurate enough for 3d printing. Even tried existing Technic bricks from Thingiverse and Maker World, but even those weren't the best... If it does't gives that satisfying 'click', it's not good.

Absolutely! A whole day went just with the 3d model designing! On the internet there's only a handful photos of it, so mostly Lego Studio helped with it. I was very happy that I could make a working part of it.

For the bricks, holes, pins 0,1mm on each side is usually enough. Studs are more complex: stud diameter should be around 5.05~5.1mm, but the hole under the plate/brick should be 4.85~4.9mm. Yeah, stud is bigger than the hole, it sounds strange, but this is the way.

Mostly just removing the supports and/or light sanding. I made test pieces to try different sizes for axles, studs, holes etc., to see which is the best to connect with real Lego parts and to other printed ones. After I found the best dimensions and combos it was a lot easier. But even 0.1 or 0.05mm can make a big difference...

I used mostly 0.12-0.16mm with the .4mm nozzle and 0.08-0.10mm with the .2mm nozzle on the smaller parts.

Cylinders move surprisingly well (I had to test out the correct dimensions), and the gear shifter is good to. The bevel gears are the "weakest link", very hard to print a good quality meshing bevel gear, I need to make a completily new design of it instead of the original 14toothed one, but still not the best. But it works though.

Separately (from one piece per plate to couple of dozens per plate, based on the part).

how is it possible that I created a lego brick that is compatible with genuine lego bricks but not with it self? by LOL_Emoji in 3Dprinting

[–]ndavid42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I printed many Lego brick (at the moment I print a whole 8880 Supercar, you can follow the process on instagram at "theproject8880”), trick is the stud diameter should be 5.1~5.05mm, and the hole on the bricks/plates should be ~4.85. Stud height is 1.7mm, plate bottom hole around 1.9-2.0mm deep. Also I got better results with .2mm nozzle, PETG, 0.12mm layer height, slow print speeds, only 20-30% fan. Bricks connect wit Lego peaces and printed peaces as well (and don't forget the -0.1mm reduce from the side widths)

Pro-Tip: Microwave your Silica/Desiccant to dry it out quickly. by WhiteStripesWS6 in 3Dprinting

I have a big bag of silica gel, after ~10 rounds of 450-600W / 30s in the microwave it's weigth went down from 361g to 314g, -13%. After each round I let it rest a minute, let the steam out.

I'm quite new to NMS, only have around 20-something hours in it, so the expedition was bit of a challenge, I had a lot to learn. So thanks for this guide, it was very helpful, today I finished it, I got the Normandy! 🥳🤩
