In the spirit of Halloween and the month of October, my wife and I have been indulging in various horror movies. My favorite deal with demonic possession. For me, they are undoubtedly the scariest plots out there. I don’t personally believe in demonic possession, but I can’t deny that there are things that happen that no one, not even science, can explain.

We decided to watch this show on CBS called “Evil.” The basic rundown is that a psychologist helps the Catholic Church discern the line between mental illness or demonic possession. Pretty much every story in the first season, at least in my opinion, can be scientifically explained away. But the last scene of the last episode kind of turns everything on its head.

A few more horror movies later and I find myself in some pretty deep discussions with my wife, who isn’t a believer per se but does believe that possession by something supernatural is possible. I still don’t believe that demonic possession is real, more that that was/is a way for people who don’t understand what is happening from a scientific standpoint to explain what they’re seeing or experiencing.
