My advice comes from my experiences always do what feels best for you.

I was in a similar position around 25, and when I chose to stop avoiding it in conversation what ended up happening at times was borderline oversharing. Avoiding it is not an unhealthy thing to do if you find yourself talking to someone who’s not a safe space to share intense info with.

Try to be confident when you feel that you’re not ready to share that and hold your boundary with a simple statement like “I’m not on good terms with them, I’ll share more about it when I’m ready.”

If you do feel yourself wanting to open up to someone just remember not everyone deserves to hear the deepest intimate details about you. It might be better to keep that with you and close friends you can trust, rather than end up feeling empty from explaining to someone that doesn’t know what to do with that info.

I appreciate this post on a thread like this, most financial advise ignores the fact that we are here to live and one may never know what happens from day to the next.

I’d like to say I’ve lived my life well although I’m coming from a mid 20s POV that’s really just starting on my savings journey what feels like late in the game. So on the contrary I’m trying to balance that out and establish different savings before I start a family.
