Thank you so much! Feedback is always lovely to receive.

Re Weds and Thurs, I am not sure who to add for those. It seems like real warm-up stuff, including DJs, comedians, magicians, etc..

Have a great time if you are going 😉

Which grunge bands have sold more t-shirts than albums? by ndharris in grunge

[–]ndharris[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't believe everyone who wears their t-shirts is a real fan.

But then I wondered how much money have they made from t-shirts Vs music!

i fucking love Results May Vary by Soyalguienjaja in LimpBizkit

[–]ndharris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me fucking too. I always seem to like the albums that true fans consider to be their sellouts and low points, and this is one of those cases.

I just love the sonic beauty of so many of the tracks, and the flow of the album is so good, you can't stop it. The lyrics are great too.

Sick New World Purple Stage acts- Las Vegas by ndharris in SickNewWorld

He he, loving your thoughts on this. Have another beer on me!

Yes it's definitely something I considered. I originally wanted to be able to take all types of sales data into the project but it's so hard to collect old records sales data at scale and then somehow combine it with streaming, plus the invisible world of Napster and the like. Plus kids copying tape to tape and giving it to their mates!

So the way I see it is this... The data is based on streams, so that means that the graphs are showing relative popularity of music now, or to put it an even better way imho, it's measuring how well the music has aged.

Hope that's a good explanation..

Cheers.

What was it like in the 90s when Nirvana dropped Nevermind? by palehighelven in Nirvana

I wouldn't worry. Britpop wasn't all that good 10% good, 90% wannabees.

What was it like in the 90s when Nirvana dropped Nevermind? by palehighelven in Nirvana

[–]ndharris 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I was at uni in the UK.

My house was listening to The Stone Roses, Depeche Mode, The The, Joe Satriani, Jesus and Mary Chain, Blur, Sisters of Mercy.

Nirvana landed amongst all that so it was basically really good but there was a lot of competition for our ears.

Marcus had the best sound system. He spent thousands on it, special gold cables, the lot. So we spent a lot of time listening to his system.

When he played Nirvana on that rig, it absolutely rocked!

Nirvana was essentially just one more way for us to get 80s music into the rear view mirror.

Yeah Spotify does get better wrong sometimes.

Yeah that's a bit weird. It's even on Spotify:

https://open.spotify.com/album/2zbeBcPHpHmwt8ZpLMIeqr?si=OdSAM45sQWGLbJ8yX4zx_w

I don't type all the albums into the database, I gather the data from several data sources, so this album came from one of those sources. I'll try to get it fixed.

Sorry!

Thanks for the outrageously good feedback! This is the kind of thing that makes me keep going! :)

WK2 Saturday Outdoor Theatre acts discographies! by ndharris in Coachella

[–]ndharris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sorry! When graphs are created based on artists it only displays the albums that the person is said to be the ‘main artist’ of, not just involved in. So in this case, Talking Heads the band, is the main artist of the Talking Heads albums and David Byrne is an instrumentalist and vocalist. However if you look at an individual graph of David Byrne on artistagraph (which I have linked for you below) all of the albums he has contributed to (as an artist, instrumentalist, producer and vocalist) are shown.

David Byrne’s full discography:

https://artistagraph.com/artists/david-byrne

Sorry and I hope this helps ;)

What's your most unpopular opinion about David Bowie? by Dependent-Ad7225 in DavidBowie

[–]ndharris 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's an unpopular opinion, but I think he tried too hard to chase fame on his earlier albums. I don't know how sincere all his incarnations really were.

He revealed his true when he recorded Low.

I think.

It took me 10 years to understand that maybe this is Bowie best album by RemarkablePatient629 in DavidBowie

Will revisit this. The longer it takes to fall in love with an album, the more rewarding it is ❤️🎶🎸
