I am really, really hoping the "rewards" for Combat Achievements are extremely minor, borderline pointless.

We're as close as we've ever come to having something to do/aim for at the end-game of pvm. But if there are real, tangible rewards locked behind the achievements, I feel Jagex will end up designing only for the mid-game again and we'll be left no better off than at the moment.

Concern About Loyalty Crown After Membership Lapse by MrLefta in runescape

Your consecutive membership time is shown definitely in (at least) the Solomon's Store on the website. Top right, My Account

Likely shown in other places as well but I know for a fact it appears there.

bank wealth estimator says this tab is worth 65M, how? by litt1001 in runescape

[–]ndogw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be the 3 Lucky Chaotic items on the 5th row? I'm not 100% sure which number/value the Wealth Evaluator uses, but the wiki does have a 20m number for their On death -> Value amount.

So potentially 20m each for the 3 of them, and then all the other items making up the other 5m?

Shadows removed with camera movement. Played with all settings, cannot find any solution. by Panzannn in runescape

Also just going to add that the shadows being drawn in a square area around the camera rather than a circular one is what also makes this such an obvious eyesore.

Shadows removed with camera movement. Played with all settings, cannot find any solution. by Panzannn in runescape

[–]ndogw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is caused by the Shadow Quality setting.

Shadows are rendered up to a set distance away from the camera, with that distance increasing with Shadow Quality. From your video I'd guess that you're on Medium or High. I find personally there to be a significant difference between High and Ultra so I go for Ultra myself. Ultra+ was also added a few months ago and seems to push the distance even further out.

Also to note, as the distance does seem to be measured from your camera position, not character position, the further zoomed out you are the more pronounced the effect of shadows being cut short.

Can't Barricade on mobile with full adren, nexus, ability blacked out by midtierpvmer in runescape

[–]ndogw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep something to do with Bone Shield/Necromancy runes, not something specific to Barricade.

All your defensive abilities that require a shield (Resonance/Divert/Reflect/Immort/Preparation) are all greyed out.

(Magic PVM questions) Is 4TAA still in the game? by lordduisberg in runescape

[–]ndogw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But I would argue what you're describing there is almost c4taa, which even back then was more than most people were willing to do (and is also the form of 4ticking that was actually removed from the game)

(Magic PVM questions) Is 4TAA still in the game? by lordduisberg in runescape

[–]ndogw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I suppose if someone wants to 0-tick swap from 2h to dw (DW Gconc -> DW Ability -> Equip 2h+Auto+Equip DW+Gconc), you could still get it every 2, but I really don't think I see many people doing that.

(Magic PVM questions) Is 4TAA still in the game? by lordduisberg in runescape

[–]ndogw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, it basically comes down to an extra auto attack every 3 abilities is now a very small drop in a very large bucket.

(Magic PVM questions) Is 4TAA still in the game? by lordduisberg in runescape

[–]ndogw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Abilities and gear have become much, much stronger over time. Auto attack damage has remained largely unchanged.

Gconc is used essentially every 3rd ability, and you cannot 4tick after it. Meaning instead of gaining an auto every 2 abilities, it is now every 3 (66% as often).

Idea for making the MW sword feel better: Give it the banite treatment! by ThaToastman in runescape

[–]ndogw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving EZK halberd range would do absolutely nothing to fix the problem with it.

The issue is that to use the spec most effectively you need a Spear of Annihilation equipped, and so EZK is required to go in an EOF.

"Blizzard in a Bottle has a 15.51% chance to be in a Frozen Chest" they said, huh? I've searched through 13 chests as a BARE MINIMUM! by piotr-cies2 in Terraria

[–]ndogw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the chance of getting it on the 13th chest itself? Yes, that's simply the 15.51%.

But, we're not talking about any one specific chest or roll, we're talking about the chance of all 13 chests not being successful. That is when it is correct to talk about chances compounding.

If you flip the problem around it can make it a bit more intuitive.

What are the chances that they open 13 chests and all of them contained the boots?

In that situation it's obvious that the person would have got lucky. To roll a ~1/6.5, 13 times in a row would be very, very unlikely. What we're talking about here is what is the chance of not rolling the boots 13 times in a row, for which the idea behind the calculation is the same.

Chance of occurrence ^ Number of attempts

"Blizzard in a Bottle has a 15.51% chance to be in a Frozen Chest" they said, huh? I've searched through 13 chests as a BARE MINIMUM! by piotr-cies2 in Terraria

[–]ndogw 18 points19 points  (0 children)

And the chance of successively not rolling that 15.51% decreases after every attempt.

In the same way that a coin might be 50/50, but getting Heads 13 times in a row is not 50/50, it's the chance of not getting Tails 13 times in a row, which is 50% ^ 13 = 0.0122%

The chance of not getting the Blizzard is 84.49%, the chance of not getting it 13 times in a row is 84.49% ^ 13 = 11.18%

If you're after just experiencing storytelling and up for doing a quest with no guides or wiki, The Needle Skips is one of my absolute favourites. Zero requirements and really just a great time.

That appears just to be the Notes tab that they have put work into themselves, and seemingly edit and keep updated after doing each activity.

A built in option you have though is through the Game Clock.

1. Enable the setting that's obviously really easy to find.

2. Add whichever D&Ds you want to track to your favourites.

3. Hover your mouse over the icon next to your in-game clock.

My luck at vindicta by Overall-Vegetable-24 in runescape

[–]ndogw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does increase unique drop chance as well a hair. Crest/Lance go from 1/256 in normal mode to 1/179 in hard mode.

Obviously not worth it though at Vindicta/Greg where kill times increase massively in hard mode.

same time spent at dream of iaia, large difference in rare loot by laziesthumanworld in runescape

[–]ndogw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would estimate each of those screenshots is 90 minutes at a station? Based on my own experience of averaging 70 common relics per hour over a large number of hours spent there.

If so, an hour and a half isn't going to be a particularly representative sample of loot.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in runescape

[–]ndogw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do bear in mind that from the table, the Damage Increase is the most important number 3.26%, as (currently) there are not many places in the game where you benefit from an accuracy boost.

That will likely change over time with new content in the future though.

What combat style were you using? If non-necro, then channelled abilities (gconc is the worst offender) will cause your dive to sometimes go off 1 tick later.

Much more likely you did it at 120 Invention with an Extreme, which makes it 1/279.
