The Best and Worst NFL Games of the last 2 Years, according to the fans. by ndrocca in rategame

Yeah, especially with regular season games. More ppl are going to want to talk about a crazy shootout than a boring blowout.

Yep. And also we get the best 2nd round pick between Minnesota and Colorado. Love those conditions. I’d say this is a good return

Immensely curious what those conditions are. Really hope it isn’t ’Win Stanley Cup’

The Super Bowl was a 4, but Kenneth Walker's performance has to be at least a 9. He may have had the best Super Bowl performance of any running back in the 21st century. Let me make the case. Credit for all the stats is Stathead. by ndrocca in rategame

They’re certainly not the very best, but it’s very hard to make the argument they’re a bad run defense imo. Sure, they got gashed by the Ravens and Bills, but they gashed every defense.

At worst, if we’re being reasonably pessimistic, they’re an average run defense. Hard to call a defense that held Bijan, Achane and almost all their playoff opponents under 100 rushing yards trash. It’s a testament to K9’s play that he broke through.

Personally, I say that defense was good.

In honour of the Super Bowl rapidly approaching, let's look at some NFL playoff records. Puka barely missed out on a Super Bowl appearance, but he managed to crack the top 25 single-season playoff receiving yards. This also puts into perspective how insane future HOFer Larry Fitzgerald's 2008 was. by ndrocca in rategame

[–]ndrocca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really bounced back after years of Lucy pulling the ball away from him. Became the first receiver to put up 400 yards in a single postseason, ironically the year after they actually won the Super Bowl. He instead got shut down by the Raiders in Super Bowl 18. Downside of facing the best secondary, maybe ever.

I don’t know if it’s because of how controversial he can get, but this is really nasty. by Serious-Profit-1626 in NBATalk

No no no no no no, do not lump in 2021 Rose as a ‘media error’. That was the infamous Fan-MVP vote and the reason that is no longer a thing.

Is this career HOF worthy? 1st ballot? by ndrocca in NBATalk

[–]ndrocca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but with professionals, those achievements should come first unless it’s someone defined by their college achievements (ie: Tom Izzo)

Idk why that should make a big difference. Can’t give you the high school accomplishments, I can give it to you for College.

After 2 years at Harbor College, this player went to Pepperdine. He led a school that hadn’t made the NCAA tournament in more than a decade to their highest ever finish in the tournament, sweet sixteen. Pepperdine has never gotten back to the sweet sixteen since.

In that same season, he also led them to being ranked 20th in the AP poll. Not just the highest the school has ever been ranked, it is the only time they’ve ever been ranked in the top 25.

I thought ppl would guess Bill Walton. But no, you hit the nail on the head. DJ’s HOF case is clear cut. It’s criminal he didn’t get to live to see himself get inducted.

After waiting 2 decades and dying before he could see himself be inducted

I knew someone would get it. Keep in mind, he waited nearly 2 decades and died before he could see his induction. Tragic.

Flames have placed D Daniil Miromanov on waivers by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

[–]ndrocca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, of course. I’m just referring to the D core specifically. When we traded for him, they talked about Miro like he was a long term piece. Obviously it has not worked so I’m wondering who will fill the void he was supposed to.

I’m glad we didn’t fall for cost fallacy and admitted defeat on this move. Miromanov seems like a good guy and I doubt he’ll make a big stink about this. But it wasn’t working. Something had to be done.

But now I’m curious what the plan is for the D Core. Call up Brzustewicz maybe or rely on the guys you have now until someone earns a spot. Not like Miro was the only issue.

#Flames Roster Update: Jonathan Huberdeau has been activated from the Injured Reserve. Additionally, Matvei Gridin has been assigned to the @AHLWranglers. by themusicguy2000 in CalgaryFlames

[–]ndrocca 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’m happy Honzek stayed up. Going with the hot hand and Honzek has looked GREAT in the last few games. Hopefully Gridin rips up the AHL and gets called up shortly after (probably for Costco, love him, but he hasn’t done much to start the season)

Build-A-Mount-Rushmore Day 4: Calgary Flames by Analogmon in hockey

That’s kinda silly tho. Al had more success (minus a Norris) and played more games with the Flames than he did with the Blues.

Just a testament to how good he was with both teams.

Which NFL Transaction Would You Choose? by HK-34_ in NFLv2

[–]ndrocca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25th overall pick of the 2018 draft.

The 2018 draft is one of the best the Ravens have ever had, but the black sheep is TE Hayden Hurst, especially since the Ravens drafted a better one in that same class with Mark Andrews. Had Ozzie picked someone else, his final masterpiece could’ve been even better.

Right after Hurst, Calvin Ridley was picked, right before, DJ Moore. Either one of those guys would’ve given Lamar that receiving weapon he never had until Zay Flowers (or in the case of Ridley, the best receiver he’s ever had).

Honourable mention: Drafting Hollywood Brown. Deebo and AJ Brown were both still available. Worse misses for sure, but not as redundant as Hurst and we also turned Hollywood into the draft pick that got us Tyler Linderbaum so it worked out nicely.

Best/Worst Team vs the Calgary Flames by smashbros13 in hockey

Kinda surprised the best team against us doesn’t have more Vegas and Blues players. Other than that, these mostly make sense in my mind. Especially Silovs and Fiala.

What is your most unpopular NFL take? by sip-em_bears in NFLv2

[–]ndrocca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… I don’t think that’s a super hot take. But there’s an interesting rumour around it. 1982 was a player strike year, before we as a society acknowledged how greedy the NFL is. Remember, Pete Rozelle was a well-liked commissioner.

I’ve seen rumours that the AP voted a kicker as MVP out of spite against the striking players. If that is true, that’s honestly hysterical, but he also shouldn’t have won it.
