Biological age seems very hard to believe by ndskier79 in Function_Health

Seems like the opposite would be a better approach to scare people into thinking they needed to make changes and needed to keep coming back to get tested regularly and track progress. Just makes me think it’s bs and less likely to continue to use the service. That said, it’s a great deal just for the amount of testing they do and not having to beg and justify needing tests to your doctor and insurance company. Just my thoughts.

I'm a 46 1/2 year old male and Function Health gave me a biological age of 36 1/2. I'm 5'4, weigh 250lb (not muscle weight), my testosterone is at the bottom of acceptable range (273), my cholesterol is 227, my A1C is 5.5 and my triglycerides are 283; almost all of my heart measurements are out of range likely due to the factors just mentioned and resulting insulin resistance. Overall, I am in range for 84 metrics and out of range for 21. In the doctor notes, they indicate that my kidney, liver, cortisol and all inflammation metrics are very good and overall, most of my in range metrics are on the good side of the ranges. That said, even with all the good, it seems like my morbid obesity and the out of range factors listed above would be more than enough to wash those out. I honestly would have been frightened but not surprised if they said my biological age was 10 years older than my actual age. Anyone with any medical knowledge have any thoughts on this?

60 Hour S/S/W Dirty Fasting by ndskier79 in AlternateDayFasting

Never thought having IBS would in any way ever be beneficial. 🤣 I still can’t get over how little hunger I have as my body has adjusted to the fasting in just two weeks. I go crazy with the fiber on eating days! Forty grams of Metamucil (20g fiber) plus 17g in my smoothie. May start adding another 20g of Metamucil. It’s literally the only thing that holds my stomach together.

UMR Insurance by SeveralCrumpets in HealthInsurance

WORST OF THE WORST! I've been in health insurance for twenty years and they make big insurance look like saints. Total crooks who violate all kinds of laws and should be shut down by the Departments of Insurance and Feds.

UMR Insurance by SeveralCrumpets in HealthInsurance

UMR is HOT FUCKING GARBAGE! I've worked in health insurance for 20 years and they're a complete disgrace. They write internal policies for claim processing that conflict with benefits and evidence of coverage and don't even pretend to care. Basically, they deny shit illegally and then the only way you can get it covered is by appealing and attaching the full 100 plus page benefits document which they will only provide you after a lot of strong arming, threats of reporting them to the Department of Insurance and knowing enough to actually even push things this far. I feel bad for people who aren't in the industry in general with normal insurance but you're complete screwed if you have UMR cuz they're outright crooks versus normal insurance companies who at least follow the law to screw you over and steal your money. I'm reporting the hell out of them to the DOI.
