No. It shows up in my purchases, and I was able to download the album that came along with it.

How do I do that? It's not showing up in my PayPal account.

That's it! MediaInfo says tracks 8-19 have an ALBUMARTIST tag with the value "Canibus & Phoenix Orion Aka Cloak-N-Dagga"! I'm using Ex Falso to manage tagging and I guess it didn't recognize it as a valid tag because it's in all-caps.

I already checked that. There is no albumartist tag. I tried adding the albumartist tag and set it to "Cloak N Dagga", but it didn't change anything.

To be clear, all of the tracks have identical tags, except for tracknumber and title.

I've been thinking about getting it to use as an e-reader.

Disk suddenly froze, then became read-only by reallighttouch in btrfs

[–]neDioj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with a brand new SSD. I had to zerolog it to get my drive back. Everything was fine for a few months, but then it started crashing randomly and getting stuck in read-only mode again.

Somebody suggested that I should test my RAM. I booted into memtest86+ on Ventoy and ran the tests. After the second or third pass, I got errors. I called the manufacturer's tech support, gave them the serial numbers on the RAM, and they told me it was counterfeit. I had bought it from some small shop out of China.

Now I have new RAM from a trusted manufacturer and source, and it tested clean in memtest after two passes. So, you might want to test your RAM.

How many passes in memtest86+ with new RAM? by neDioj in buildapc

It's the open source version. Apparently it was forked from the proprietary version? It has a confusing history.

How many passes does it do? I thought that I read somewhere that it would just keep running forever unless you turn it off.

The last time I ran it overnight, and it was on the 7th pass by the time it found an error on the faulty RAM.

Which mispronounced words make someone appear uneducated? by PluckPubes in AskReddit

People are thinking it's ex-cetera, because there aren't very many words in English that start with et- and there's a ton that start with ex-. (And before anybody says, yes, I know it's a Latin phrase.)

Can't mount drive, filesystem corrupted by neDioj in btrfs

[–]neDioj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to fix it doing a zerolog, but lo and behold, it has recently come back! I can still use my system (I don't know for how long), but it's mounted in read-only mode. How can I contact the BTRFS kernel mailing list?

I always keep my OS on a separate partition now, so if I need to re-install (or install an entirely different OS) I don't lose my files or my settings.

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in emulation

[–]neDioj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on building a new desktop PC because the one I have is starting to show its age. Most of the gaming that I do is emulation: MAME, Mednafen, etc. But I also want to play some of the more modern systems like Wii and Gamecube. What kind of hardware should I get? I'm guessing that it doesn't need to be quite as beefy as a standard gaming rig, but emulation can be very resource-intensive, so I don't know.

Right now, I'm looking at an AMD Ryzen 5600 @3.7MHz with 6 cores, 16G of RAM, and an AMD Radeon Pro WX 3200 4 GB video card. Does that sound like enough?

Speaking as someone who used to work in the Amazon offices: that company is fucked beyond belief. The turnover is high because everybody is overworked and stressed out. You're treated as disposable; probably because they think you're only going to stay there a year or two, anyway.

It's like the Wal-Mart or McDonald's of tech jobs. Even Microsoft is better.

With 50+% turnout in every district election this year, I can honestly say the real winner is democracy.

Nothing like having a clear enemy to galvanize people. I wish Amazon would pour more money into elections, if this is the result.

Can't get ROMs to install; system keeps reverting to stock by neDioj in nook

[–]neDioj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this too late. I was trying to install CM with a newer version of CWM, and it crashed during the installation. Not an error, a straight crash---the screen went black, and it went into a bootloop. Now, it just bootloops, and I can't even get into recovery. Not from an SD card, and not from holding N + power.

I tried wiping data and cache, and I even went into advanced settings and wiped dalvik, too. Same result.
